SUMMARY:

This research aims to highlight the potential environmental and construction benefits of using sustainable bricks in civil construction, proposing a construction alternative that combines sustainability, efficiency and technical feasibility. Using a combination of water, cement, soil and Construction Waste (CDW), the ecological brick presents itself as a solution to reduce the environmental impact of the sector, while contributing to the construction of cleaner buildings. Unlike conventional bricks, the proposed product eliminates the use of biomass in the firing stage, as its curing occurs naturally, outdoors, under careful humidity control. This process results in a significant reduction in CO₂ emissions, meeting sustainability criteria and making it a more responsible and innovative option. The research was conducted in the laboratories of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), where a series of experimental tests evaluated the technical feasibility of the material, exploring its physical-mechanical properties. The methodology adopted included an initial bibliographic review, essential to theoretically support the study, followed by the preparation of inputs and production of sustainable bricks. After natural curing, the bricks were subjected to laboratory tests to examine their compressive strength attributes in all tested proportions. These data were compared to references of conventional bricks and other sustainable materials, providing a productive alternative for ecological products. In addition to presenting advantages in the context of sustainability and construction efficiency, this work proposes an alternative for the construction sector, encouraging the use of waste as raw material, promoting the circular economy and reducing the pressure on finite natural resources. In addition, the developed bricks contribute to less polluting buildings, stimulating the development of construction practices that prioritize environmental balance. As a result, this research provides a basis for future innovations in the field of sustainable materials, inspiring the improvement of technologies that value efficiency, the preservation of natural resources and the quality of life in cities.
