Multiliteracies. Multimodal writing. Elementary School. TDIC. Canva.
Brazilian education is influenced by historical and cultural concepts that are reflected in the current educational landscape. In this context, technological advances and their integration into schools become a relevant topic, especially in the digital age, which requires mastery of Digital Information and Communication Technologies (DICT) and multiple languages. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the use of the digital tool Canva for the development of multiliteracies and multimodal writing skills among 5th-grade elementary school students. To achieve this objective, the methodology of this work is based on a mixed quantitative and qualitative approach. The methodological approach adopted was action research, developed in a private school in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, with 5th-grade elementary school students (Early Years). The main steps of the research were identifying prior knowledge through brainstorming, the practical application of a teaching sequence, and assessment through a questionnaire. The corpus is currently being compiled for further analysis. Therefore, at the end of the study, we hope to understand Canva's contributions to multimodal production and the development of students' multiliteracies and, based on the results, develop a teaching guide for teachers focusing on multiliteracies.
