ZERO DOIS: AN INCLUSIVE DIGITAL GAME FOR TEACHING FINANCIAL EDUCATION TO DEAF STUDENTS
Deaf Education; Educational Digital Games; Financial Education.
The increasing rate of indebtedness among the Brazilian population, combined with the scarcity of accessible pedagogical resources for deaf students, highlights the need for inclusive initiatives in the teaching of Financial Education. Considering this scenario, this research aims to develop and validate an inclusive educational digital game focused on teaching Financial Education to deaf students. The study is applied nature, with a qualitative and exploratory approach, and is characterized as a case study conducted with deaf students at the Centro Estadual de Capacitação de Profissionais da Educação e Atendimento ao Surdo (CAS Natal). The game, developed on the Scratch platform, simulates a supermarket environment, emphasizing visual elements, textual simplicity, and binary decision-making. Its core mechanics are based on contextualized financial choices such as price comparison, change and discount analysis. Its diagnostic function allows teachers to identify students’ competencies in mathematical operations and in interpreting financial situations. It is expected that this game will expand the availability of inclusive digital resources, promote more effective pedagogical practices, and strengthen public policies for equity and digital innovation, contributing theoretically to the fields of Educational Technologies, Deaf Education, and Financial Education.
