SUMMARY:

Given the changes in student profiles and the contemporary demands of education, there is a growing need to modernize teaching and learning processes through active methodologies, such as the use of games and interactive dynamics, capable of promoting greater engagement and participation. In the context of the "Escola Bíblica Dominical" – EBD, a traditional religious education environment in evangelical churches, a high dropout rate is observed, especially among young people and adolescents. This is largely due to unappealing classes based on inflexible teaching materials and expository methods. This reality highlights the urgency of adopting new pedagogical approaches.

This dissertation investigates the impacts of implementing the Escape Room methodology on student engagement, motivation, and learning in EBD. The research adopts a qualitative approach, using action research design, an inductive method, and a cross-sectional perspective. The study will be conducted with students from the Youth and Adolescents class at the Evangelical "Assembleia de Deus", Pastor Nelson Bezerril congregation, located in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil.

The initial hypothesis is that the Escape Room, through a playful, challenging, and collaborative experience, can significantly enhance students' engagement, motivation, and learning. The main impact indicator will be the level of engagement, measured through the active participation of the students during the activities. The expected results aim to contribute to the implementation of innovative pedagogical practices in EBD, reducing dropout rates and lack of interest in classes, while also providing input for improving educational strategies in the religious context, with a focus on voluntariness, meaningful learning, and participant well-being.
