SUMMARY:

Motorcycle crashes constitute a major public health problem, particularly in regions where motorcycles serve as a primary means of transportation and labor. This study aimed to analyze the epidemiological, temporal, healthcare, and economic profiles of road traffic injuries involving motorcyclists in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, using statistical techniques, data mining, and artificial intelligence methods. This is an exploratory, descriptive, retrospective, cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach, based on the analysis of 18,278 hospital records. The methodological framework included descriptive statistical analysis, correlations, temporal analysis, Shannon entropy calculation, clustering techniques via the K-Means algorithm, and the application of the N-BEATS artificial intelligence model for time series forecasting. The results revealed a predominance of male victims, young adults, and drivers, with a higher frequency of events occurring on weekends and during peak urban traffic hours. The analyses demonstrated high temporal variability, low predictability of events, and distinct epidemiological and healthcare profiles, including clusters associated with greater clinical severity and high hospital costs. These findings reinforce the multifactorial nature of motorcycle crashes and highlight the potential of data mining and artificial intelligence techniques as valuable tools for epidemiological surveillance, healthcare services planning, and the formulation of public policies aimed at preventing road traffic injuries.
