This paper presents an exploratory analysis of the profile of candidates and the factors associated with electoral success in the Brazilian elections between 2006 and 2022. Using data provided by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), variables such as gender, age, education, declared assets, campaign spending, reelection attempts, and region of candidacy were examined. The results point to persistent inequalities in political representation, with emphasis on the underrepresentation of women, the concentration of electoral success in regions with higher HDI, and the relative advantage of candidates with greater economic capital. The average education level of candidates increased over the years, but the correlation with electoral success fluctuated, being positive until 2014 and, subsequently, negative in some regions. These findings reinforce the importance of understanding the structural and symbolic determinants of political representation in Brazil. The research is ongoing, with plans to apply statistical and machine learning models to deepen the predictive and explanatory analysis of electoral performance.
