Oversubscription of shots on computing nodes for latency hiding on seismic applications with domain decomposition

Developing parallel PDE problems is usually a much more time-consuming and challenging task in developing.
In particular, programmers are required to develop solutions that expose a high degree of parallelism, exhibits high locality, dynamically adapt to the available resources, and hides communication latency. Hiding communication latency is crucial to realize the potential of distributed memory machines with highly parallel processing modules. Technological trends indicate that communication latencies will continue to be an issue as the performance gap between computation and communication. Domain decomposition is a technique exploited both to balance the load and to reduce communications in parallel applications. Therefore, this work aims to create an approach to hide the latency of communication in seismic application with domain decomposition that utilizes an oversubscription of shots.
