In contemporary architecture, there is a growing pursuit of design solutions that share socioenvironmental sustainability and the building's relationship with the surroundings, as well as studies on construction technologies applied to architectural form that align with these current principles. Among these reflections, the materiality, defined by Picon (2020) as being the connection between architecture and the technology of materials, considering the human condition, can be approached in association with the notions of tectonics and the everyday architecture, makes it possible to comprehend better the identification of constructive aspects that valorize the dialogue of the architectural form with surrounding and facilitate the integration between people and the environment, especially through atmosphere that invite human presence. From this convergence arises the concept of the tectonics of everyday architecture. However, the literature about contemporary architecture indicates a methodological difficulty in identifying the formal and constructive aspects that express this new concept. In this thesis, this theoretical approach is applied to analyzing buildings with mixed-use (commerce and service) in Latin America. These buildings are buildings that have marketing influence that, generally, incorporate few design solutions in the architectural form that valorize the everyday in its materiality, even though there are proposals that facilitate this relationship. Thus, the research points to the problem question: how can the materiality of architecture express the tectonics of everyday architecture in buildings with mixed-use (commerce and service) in Latin America, facilitating the relationship with the surroundings and human interaction? The research hypothesis argues that design solutions for buildings with mixed-use (commerce and service) better emphasize interior-exterior relationships through access points, facade activity, spatial continuity, visual permeability, legible materials, and legible structural systems contribute to the tectonics of the everyday architecture on the types of buildings studied. The study object treated the relationship between materiality and tectonics of the everyday architecture in buildings with mixed-use, with a focus on collective areas that can foster social interaction. The aim is to identify and understand the constructive materiality as a facilitator of the tectonics of everyday architecture, and the relationship of the building with mixed-use and people. The universe of analysis is the types of buildings in Latin America between 2000 – 2021 years and selected from technical journals with free access. The research method was developed principally from a theoretical framework with authors that talk about architectural form and detail (structural and materials characteristics), interior architecture, architectural permeability, and context, creating four great categories of analysis: (1) Geometric aspects from parts to the whole; (2) Transition spaces indoor-outdoor; (3) Relationship between people and the scale of the detail; (4) Material and structural dimension like facilitators of human perception. The results indicate that the friendly facade was predominant, and distinguishable intermediate spaces are also frequently found. The largest of the projects worked with structural systems with little expression. Finally, the ground floor of the works was the space that most provided a better relationship between people through design solutions that facilitate the tectonics of everyday architecture, thus confirming the research hypothesis.
