BIG AREA: Ciências da Saúde

SUMMARY:

Due to its clinical, social, cultural, and symbolic characteristics, pregnancy constitutes a complex, dynamic, and multidimensional experience for women and their families. Recent evidence indicates that many pregnant and postpartum women turn to informal or unreliable sources for information; this can reinforce myths, unrealistic expectations regarding motherhood, and feelings of guilt or inadequacy when facing the challenges of this period. In recent decades, gamification-based strategies—defined as the application of game elements and dynamics in non-game contexts—have gained prominence as innovative approaches to fostering engagement, motivation, and learning within healthcare settings. Beyond merely providing information, mobile applications enable the implementation of interactive features that promote user engagement and allow for the continuous monitoring of user needs. With this in mind, this research aims to develop a gamified digital educational resource focused on promoting mental health care for pregnant and postpartum women, serving as a health education strategy within the context of maternal and child health. The research builds upon an educational booklet previously developed by the researcher during her training in the Multiprofessional Residency Program in Primary Care at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte. The current proposal seeks to expand the educational material's reach and accessibility. Initially, the content of the booklet—which has already been validated by expert reviewers—will be reviewed and updated. Subsequently, the material will be adapted into a digital format, involving content reorganization, the definition of information architecture, and the incorporation of gamification elements designed to foster user engagement and learning. The expected outcome is an educational product that offers practical applicability and potential for replication across various settings, while contributing to innovation in educational practices within the field of maternal mental health by integrating education, technology, and health care. These aspects will be analyzed using an Educational Product Verification Matrix, developed specifically for this study, covering dimensions related to scientific quality, usability, pedagogical coherence, accessibility, potential for replicability, and innovation in educational practices.
