SUMMARY:

Introduction: EPS is a fundamental strategy for strengthening the SUS (Unified Health System), as it combines teaching, service, and management with a focus on transforming professional practices. In Rio Grande do Norte, the establishment of the State EPS Policy and the NEPs has contributed to identifying training needs and improving the quality of healthcare work. This study proposes the creation of a catalog of EPS needs to support more effective, participatory educational initiatives aligned with state policy guidelines, aiming to strengthen the HETFF NEP.

Objectives: To analyze the challenges and training needs of hospital care professionals, evidencing the Permanent Health Education needs through a catalog. Methodology: This is a qualitative, quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional research, developed with the aim of identifying the training needs of healthcare professionals at the Telecila Freitas Fontes State Hospital (HETFF) and supporting the development of a Permanent Health Education catalog. The study included 118 professionals from different categories. Data collection was carried out using a structured questionnaire, followed by quantitative and qualitative analysis of the responses. The findings substantiated the elaboration of the catalog, which was validated in a meeting with the NEP and the institution's Management Board. The project was approved by the Research Ethics Committee, under CAAE 82072924.1.000.55568, respecting the precepts of Resolution nº 466/2012. Results and Discussions: The survey results revealed the diverse training needs of HRTFF professionals and the importance of educational planning aligned with institutional realities. Most participate in one to three training sessions per year, with a preference for in-person activities in the afternoon. However, challenges such as work overload, multiple work commitments, and difficulties in obtaining permission limit participation. The professionals suggested active methodologies, greater dissemination, and integration of the NEP with the departments. Local experience has shown that qualified listening and participatory planning foster engagement. Based on these demands, a Catalog of EPS Needs was created to strengthen the culture of continuing education and improve healthcare quality. Final Considerations: It is concluded that the development of the Catalog of Permanent Health Education Needs at HETFF contributed to systematizing actual training demands and strengthening the role of the NEP in planning educational actions. The research highlighted the potential of qualified listening and collective participation in developing strategies aligned with the guidelines of the Rio Grande do Norte State EPS Policy, promoting the qualification of healthcare work in the hospital context.
