SUMMARY:

Introduction: Rural and remote municipalities in Brazil have particular characteristics in terms of the means of access, the characteristics of the population and the ways in which territories are used. Half of the population lives in the countryside, outside the municipal headquarters. PHC services are the main source of access to health care, with complete ESF teams in UBSs in the city center, but in more rural or remote areas, the team's performance is marked by infrastructure failures, high maintenance costs for the UBS and difficulties in moving and retaining professionals, especially doctors. Objective: To systematize technical educational products for professionals and users with a focus on initial urgent and emergency care in the Family Health Strategy team in rural areas, based on the health needs, culture and experiences of users in rural communities. Methodology: This is a methodological study based on the following stages: identification of the learning needs of health professionals and users living in remote areas, development of technical educational products for professionals and users and validation by the target audience and specialists. The research was carried out in the rural areas of the municipality of Caicó, in the Seridó region of the state of Rio Grande do Norte. The study participants were health professionals from the communities' family health strategy and health service users - residents of the respective communities. The data collection procedures were semi-structured interviews and focus groups. The data was analyzed using thematic categorical analysis. Results: The analysis of the data allowed for the elaboration of four categories: limitations of the rural context for the initial care of urgencies and emergencies; popular practices in the care of urgencies and emergencies; the need for significant coherent educational offerings for the rural context and training for users. Two technical educational products were developed: a proposal for an educational offer for health professionals using active, interactive and learner-centered methodologies, where the topics covered are related to the events that happen most in the rural context. Short videos - no longer than 2 minutes - for dissemination to users. The educational products took into account the culture and context of life and health in rural communities. Final considerations: Rural communities have specific living and health characteristics that need to be taken into account in the dynamics of health service provision and in the formulation of policies that are consistent with the health needs of the members of these communities. For this reason, it is important to develop new ways of educating health professionals working in these areas and future professionals so that health practices are consistent with the profiles of these communities and, consequently, more effective.
