ANALYSIS OF PATIENT SAFETY CULTURE IN THE PRIMARY HEALTH CARE IN CURRAIS NOVOS: identifying opportunities for improvement

Patient safety is a subject widely studied in the current context. Despite the growing interest in the subject, there is still widespread lack of awareness of the problem, so it is important to work on this issue in order to reduce the damage and adverse events caused by health care. This study evaluated the patient safety culture in the Primary Health Care of the Municipality of Currais Novos-RN, through the application of forms to working professionals from Family Health Teams of the urban area of the city. A cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach, where the analyzed data highlighted the most critical points that could support suggestions that will be proposed to local management, to improve the patient safety culture in the primary care in question. This work, a pioneer in the Seridó region, could become a reference for the improvement of a health system quality, as well as seek to directly impact the training of Multiprofessional Residency professionals and medical students, both linked to EMCM-UFRN, who develop their stages and activities in the Primary Health Care Units researched.
