The Bachelor's Degree in Geophysics at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) is an academic program of excellence designed to train highly qualified, versatile, and innovative professionals. With a standard duration of 5 years and a comprehensive curriculum of 3,600 hours, the program received the highest possible score (5.0) in the rigorous on-site evaluation conducted by the Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC). The pedagogical framework focuses on preparing students to master all stages of geophysical exploration: data acquisition, processing, and interpretation. Its modern curriculum combines a solid foundation in exact and Earth sciences with a strong technological component, encouraging programming skills (with an emphasis on Python) and the development of custom computational solutions. Students benefit from an outstanding faculty, composed entirely of PhD-level professors dedicated exclusively to the university. Learning is deeply rooted in practical experience, supported by state-of-the-art infrastructure that includes specialised laboratories for seismology, rock physical properties, and geophysical equipment, as well as 4x4 vehicles dedicated to fieldwork operations. Furthermore, the program promotes strong integration with scientific research, graduate studies, and community outreach, empowering future geophysicists to address complex challenges in the energy, mineral, and environmental industries, as well as in academia.
