RESUMO:

Waters with low to moderate turbidity and color are often a challenge to treat, mainly water treatment plants (WTP) full cycle with clarification by decantation (conventional ETA) due to difficulty in adjusting coagulation. In this search, we do tests (jar test with lab filters) to optimize a conventional ETA which treat water with low turbidity and color. The tests were made in the settings in full cycle and downstream direct filtration to compare these technologies, and using the following chemicals: coagulant Polyaluminum Chloride (known as PAC); adsorbents with activated carbons in powder (CAP); and oxidant agents with sodium dichloro isocyanurate and sodium hypochlorite. These products were tested alone and preceding the application of PAC in rapid mix. All treatments attended the standard for drinking water to the apparent color, however, only treatments that there was coagulation attended the standards for the apparent color and turbidity simultaneously, and especially treatment with pre-oxidation followed by coagulation which was the most efficient in removal. Additionally, there were no differences between treatment in complete cycle and the direct descendant filtration to the same chemicals in the respective doses.
