The sea turtles make their nests on the beaches exposing the eggs to the predation mainly by animals that forage in the coast. A large number of nests visited/predated by the fox species (Cerdocyon thous) were observed in the Parnamirim-RN Inferno spawning monitoring. In this study we worked with the hypothesis that the monitoring and signaling of nests, using marking stakes, p "taught/attracted" the foxes, relating such markings with food (nest). The hypothesis was tested through an experiment that involved the implementation of false turtle nests, simulating nests signaling at the time of nests monitoring. In addition, different intervention methods were developed for the construction of false nests, to verify a greater range of possible objects of attraction (whether olfactory or visual by the fox), such as: just digging, only pointing with a sign and the introduction of the false full nest. We observed that the totality of the false nests presented traces of visitation/approximation/ exploration (through footprints) of foxes in their environment. In order to reinforce the hypothesis of the frequency of fox visitation on the coast of the NB, fox footprints were collected at random points on the beach regardless of the presence or absence of true or false nests. It was concluded that the false nests are more visited than any random points on the beach (p = 0.0015). The three distinct interventions of construction of the false nests: just cutting, digging or false complete nests were also visited by the fox (p = 0.95).
