RESUMO:

The objective of this study was to estimate the probability of occupation of
understory birds in the Seridó caatinga and to correlate them with environmental
and ecological covariables, as well as to evaluate the degree of influence of biotic
and abiotic variables associated with the occupation of this group, and the reports
collected will be used according to strategies to ensure the life and reproduction of
the species. For this, ornithological surveys of the species of the study site (RPPN
Stoessel de Brito) were carried out. Data collection was performed at 40 points
(sample sites) during the period of least precipitation. The points were randomly
distributed for a better comprehension of the vegetative strata. We used models of
occupation for a species and a station (Single-season, single-season occupancy
models) following methodology of MACKENZIE et al. (2006). The Seridó region
suffers from lack of water, which means that some resident birds adapt to new
conditions imposed by the environment. Thus, a detailed study of the local species
evidencing the demographic, reproductive and population viability parameters of
vertebrates of the caatinga area was carried out in order to provide subsidies for the
conservation and management of the RPPN study.
