SUMMARY:

The risky sexual behavior raises several questions. Some pathogens can be visually identified or detected through other clues, some individuals still engage in sexual relations despite being aware of the possibility of contamination when interacting with unknown people. This arouse curiosity in understanding which variables are influencing the decision-making process leading someone to compromise their health and reputation. It is known that external influences may be driving these behaviors; however, factors such as personality need to be further investigated, as an individual may have a greater propensity to engage in risky situations due to their personality traits. The increase in detection of new HIV cases in the state of Rio Grande do Norte raises an alert to comprehend what may be leading these individuals to engage in behaviors that can directly affect their health throughout their lives. In this study, the investigation will be conducted using parameters that assess information about possible neglect/abuse experienced by the individual regarding their caregivers during childhood, utilizing the participant's self-image variable related to the expression of risky sexual behaviors, as well as individual characteristics that serve as an important variable when studying the manifestation of this type of behavior, in order to better understand its relationship with other variables. Groups will also be compared, and the use of health protection measures will be examined to observe how sociosexuality manifests in these different sets.
