SUMMARY:

The experience of sexual orientation differs between bisexual people and those who identify as monosexual, even within sexual minorities such as gays and lesbians. Binegativity, a phenomenon in which bisexual people face prejudice and discrimination, can lead to the internalization of stigmas, affecting self-image and personal choices. Studies show that both heterosexuals and members of the LGBTQ+ community can contribute to the marginalization of bisexual people, perpetuating beliefs of monosexism and making their experiences invisible. In this context, this research aims to investigate the influences of internalized binegativity and dark personality traits on bisexual women's choice of long-term partners. Adopting a quasi-experimental approach and a cross-sectional design, the study will recruit bisexual women college students in Rio Grande do Norte, aged 18 minimum, who voluntarily agree to participate. The data collection instruments will include a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Chinese Internalized Binegativity Scale (CIBS) and the Dark Triad Dirty Dozen (DTDD), adapted to Brazilian Portuguese. The results are expected to contribute to a better understanding of how internalized binegativity and dark personality traits influence long-term partner choices among bisexual women. In addition, these findings can inform the development of specialized clinical mental health services, interventions and public health policies, as well as strategies against prejudice to bisexual people. Through this work, we seek not only to elucidate the challenges faced by bisexual women, but also to promote greater awareness of bisexuality and its nuances, aiming for a more inclusive and welcoming society for all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation.
