SUMMARY:

Enabling the inclusive pedagogical practices in Early Childhood Education during the
COVID-19 pandemic became a big challenge for the teachers, school administrators,
parents, and the whole scholar community. The research entitled “Remote and hybrid
teaching in the Early Childhood Education: inclusive pedagogical practices” aims to
analyze the organization of the pedagogical practice developed with the children with
Special Educational Needs (SEN), regularly registered in Early Childhood Education at
Núcleo de Educação da Infância (NEI-CAp/UFRN), in the context of the remote and
hybrid teaching. Two institute coordinators and four teachers who worked with the
children with SEN and accompanied the classes during the period from 2020 to 2021 were
invited to participate in the research. The motivations for the research emerge from the
experiences and personal and professional concerns of those working as a teacher at NEI-
CAp/UFRN in the context of the covid-19 pandemic during the years 2020 and 2021 and
from the desire of sharing the pedagogical practices developed during this period. This
research thus contributes to the studies related to childhood education and teaching work.
The research has a qualitative and descriptive approach. Starting from the actual context
and using multiple data sources, it is qualified as a case study for investigating the
education of the children with SEN in the Early Childhood Education during the period of
the covid-19 pandemic, considered a contemporary event. As a methodological procedure,
the study used the analysis of the institute documentary sources related to the inclusion and
the emergency remote and hybrid teaching period and the semi-structured interviews with
the teachers and coordinators conducted online on the Google Meet platform. The data will
be analyzed based on the discursive textual analysis methodology. They will also be the
basis to produce a digital portfolio in collaboration with the Early Childhood Education
teachers who participated in the research, sharing pedagogical strategies and teaching
resources used to contribute to the learning of the children with SEN. Believing in the need
and importance of sharing successful pedagogical practices, the study aims to socialize
how they were developed and experienced in Early Childhood Education during the remote
and hybrid teaching period and how they can contribute to the inclusion of the children
with SEN in other contexts.
