SUMMARY:

The large-scale expansion of contagion, morbidity and mortality caused by the SARS-CoV-2 required an expansion in the number of hospital access, and a significant increase in demands on professionals and/or health system. Patients with SARS-CoV-2 were treated by primary care or directly by hospital emergencies and intensive care units. The exponential increase in demands, fear and uncertainty created by an unknown disease, in many cases deadly, brought difficulties for the formation of teams and changes in the work process. The deaths of colleagues, the daily challenge against the death, the difficulties in decision-making, were factors that contributed to making it difficult to work on the front line, generating health problems and absence from work, especially the problems of psychological distress. This work aimed to identify the scientific production on psychological distress and the work process of professionals working in Primary Health Care, emergencies and ICUs during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic to establish a synthesis of knowledge produced in Brazil, contributing to the confrontation of this problematic. This is a literature review carried out in the main health databases, seeking research on the topic of psychological distress and work process during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic among professionals in PHC, emergencies and ICUs. Among the inclusion criteria, studies published or presented in dissertation and theses boards were considered based on the declaration of the pandemic situation by the new coronavirus, issued by the WHO on March 11, 2020, considering August 15, 2021 as the final date of inclusion. As exclusion criteria, studies carried out outside the Brazilian context and published or presented outside the defined period were excluded. To operationalize the research, the following databases were used: Virtual Health Library (VHL), Portal Periódicos CAPES and Scielo. The search keywords were: psychological distress, work process, pandemic SARS-CoV-2, SARS-CoV-2, burnout, professional stress, psychosocial risks, occupational health, server health, emergency, ICU, APS, UBS, ESF , psychopathology. Various combinations were made between these keywords in titles, subjects and abstracts.
