Thin-clients technology is characterized as a solution for the deployment of computer laboratories in educational institutions.
This technology is based on the use of client terminals with low computational power connected via a network to a set of application servers.
Virtualization has turned into a great ally of IT professionals regarding the consolidation of servers due to cost reduction.
However, the bad provisioning of resources such as disk, processing and memory for virtual machines can cause overload in an instance, while might remain underutilized.
This document addresses the challenges faced in providing remote environments for thin-clients, with the proposal of a self-adaptive system, called ConManager, based on the use of containers to implement self-management of resources, such as memory and CPU, of virtualized servers.
The proposal is being applied as a case study in the computer laboratories of the Escola de Ciências e Tecnologia, Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte.
