RESUMO:

This research aims to reflect on the reading in the transformational process of 7th grade elementary school students from a state public school in the country of Santa Cruz / RN. Firstly, it deals with reading from the perspective of the PCNS (1998), pointing out the need for continuous and permanent work, for the construction and implementation of a policy for the training of readers in schools, and for reading work to be daily. Then we start from the following question: How to treat reading in the classroom with the necessary rigor for the student to achieve reading proficiency? We know that there are several ways to encourage reading in the classroom, so we chose to read the cordel in the classroom, as a possibility of enchantment, considering its importance as an artistic and cultural artifact, as a typically Northeastern manifestation, and even more: to believe it capable of the "literary catharsis" that the enjoyment of its reading can provoke, as well as by the multiple known possibilities that are inherent to it. In this intervention-based research, the general objective is to investigate the reception given by students to the cordel genre through data obtained and analyzed through the reading of some cordéis. As specific objectives, we try to verify the barriers that pass the formation of the reader in the classroom, especially, as far as poetic literacy is concerned, besides evaluating the importance of the reading of the cordel in the formation of the reader, through the analysis of the data produced by the participating students. In order to prove the success of our intervention, we start from the following problematic: in the face of the lack of interest in reading in the classroom, can the cordel, because of its playful nature, serve to restore the desire to read? To this end, stimulate students' interest in reading through the cordel, we present texts of the popular literary canon, as well as we offer the contact with several texts of the local cordéis - Gilberto Cardoso dos Santos, Hélio Crisanto and  Adriano Bezerra. We also use regionalist poems of poets- Jessier Quirino (PB), Paulo Varela (Assú/RN), the minstrel Antônio Marinho and Rogaciano Leite (Sertão do Pajeú), in order to value the Potiguar literary and cultural productions. Action research was guided by the assumptions of THIOLLENT (2011), and the basic sequence applied was based on the workshops suggested by COSSON (2014) We also follow theoretical directions based on CANDIDO (1989, 2013), BOSI (2000), PINHEIRO (1995), BAKHTIN (2009), LAJOLO (1993,1997), SANTOS (2008), FREIRE (1996), GRAMSCI ), WALLON (1975, 1995), GASPARIN (2001), FÁVERO (2003), CHAUÍ (2009), AUSUBEL (1980), among others.
