THE GENDER OPEN LETTER IN THE CLASSROOM: FROM SCHOOL LIVING TO SOCIAL PRÁXIS
Portuguese Language teaching; textual genre; text global aspects; open letter
The origin of this research is related to our concern as teachers of Portuguese Language, specifically with the question of how to make teaching enjoyable and meaningful for the student, so that their purpose in the school transcends mere school approval. The objective of our research is to investigate the global aspects of the textual genre “open letter” written by students of the 9th grade "A", of a public school, located in the state of Paraíba. Based mainly on Antunes (2010), Marcuschi (2008) and Koch and Elias (2006, 2010) we will select as categories of analysis for this work the universe of reference of the texts, the communicative purpose of the genre and the composition scheme, beyond informative relevance. From the theoretical point of view, we will base our discussions in the perspective of text linguistics, in order to reflect on the issues related to text teaching, in a specific gender in classroom activities. Regarding the methodology, this research will be guided by the qualitative and interpretative approach, based on the studies of Flick (2009), Fonseca (2002) and Marconi and Lakatos (2011). Concerning the type of research, we will follow the action research perspective, a pedagogical intervention carried out in our own classroom, with the Didactic Sequence (DOLZ, SCHNEUWLY and NOVERRAZ, 2004) as an instrument for constructing the study corpus, once that the research work is intended to interfere in a school social reality causing changes, which implies the acquisition of linguistic and discursive knowledge necessary to write the genre “open letter”.
