SUMMARY:

This project aims to analyze how ableism, as an expression of alienated capitalist relations, influences the dispute over public policy regarding access to education for persons with disabilities, determining the course of state action that resulted in the non-regulation of the provision of support professionals in the Brazilian Law of Inclusion (LBI). The methodology will be based on historical-dialectical materialism and will be documentary and theoretical in nature, focusing on what the LBI states about the role of support professionals and how this category appears in the proceedings of the National Conferences on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, among other documents. The expected results point to an understanding of the advances and limitations in the struggle for the regulation of support professionals, highlighting how ableism, familism, and interdependence permeate the debates, and how ableism in capitalist society contributes to the precarization and devaluation of this work and to the maintenance of the productivist logic in education.
