SUMMARY:

Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is a common condition in which one or more pelvic organs, such as the bladder, uterus, or rectum, move out of their normal position, and affects up to 3 out of 10 women in the United States. SOP can significantly alter women's quality of life. The symptoms can cause discomfort, embarrassment and difficulty in daily activities. The general objective of this study is to analyze the quality of life of women with pelvic organ prolapse who attend a USF in the East Zone of Manaus-AM in the period 2023-2024. It aims to understand how women aged between 25 and 82 years perceive their quality of life in relation to POP, identifying factors that interfere in their daily life and in the diagnosis of prolapse, in order to propose actions aimed at improving the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of this problem in the Family Health Unit in question. This is a cross-sectional study of an exploratory descriptive nature, which adopts a mixed approach - quantitative and qualitative, to understand the occurrence of POP. Initially, a literature review was carried out to understand the state of the art on the problem and to subsidize the investigation, using the PubMed, Scielo and Google Scholar platforms, verifying the influence of social, cultural, economic and environmental factors, which condition the event, especially in the Amazon region. Data collection was carried out in the Patient Record Service (PEC - Electronic Citizen Record) with a focus on the population of women seeking medical care in a USF, with intentional selection and a non-probabilistic sample of 25 participants. A semi-structured questionnaire with closed questions was applied from January 13 to February 13, 2025, to explore women's knowledge about pelvic organ prolapse and its consequences. Next, a conversation circle was held with 10 women, who accepted, after being invited to meet, to narrate their life experience with POP. Quantitative data were analyzed and systematized using descriptive statistics and summary tables, and qualitative data were analyzed using the Collective Subject Discourse (CSD), which performs first and second level analysis (Data Analysis Instrument - IAD1 and IAD2). HEI1 is made with the management of methodological figures - Key Expressions (KE), Central Ideas (CI) and Anchoring (CA), and IAD2 constructs the CSD based on procedures performed on the categorization of TECHs with a similar or complementary meaning. The results, after a close analysis of the data and the literature review, showed that women with POP have a worse quality of life compared to women without POP and a greater chance of acquiring other physical, mental and social health complications. It also highlights symptoms most often associated with negative interferences in quality of life such as urinary incontinence and the feeling of heaviness or pressure in the vagina. The findings answered the study question and the objectives indicated, in order to understand the perception of women with Pelvic Organ Prolapse who receive care at the Family Health Unit (USF) of Manaus/AM, making it possible to indicate suggestions to improve their quality of life. Encompassing strategies that involve preventive measures, treatment options and psychosocial support.
