CLINICAL-FUNCTIONAL VULNERABILITY OF ELDERLY PEOPLE, ASSISTED AT AN OUTPATIENT CITY IN THE CITY OF MANAUS

Introduction: The significant growth of the Brazilian elderly population brings challenges to the management of health services, health policies and society. Objective: to analyze the clinical-functional Vulnerability Index of elderly people assisted at an outpatient clinic in the city of Manaus-Amazonas. Methods: This is a quantitative, descriptive, observational and cross-sectional study using a convenience sample, with 120 elderly people, aged 60 years or over, of both sexes, from January to September 2024. The variables analyzed were obtained through data collected from the Clinical-Functional Vulnerability Index-(IVCF-20) ). It is an instrument capable of evaluating the main health determinants of elderly people, together with sociodemographic, socio-family variables, health conditions, lifestyle habits from the elderly person's health record, after approval by the Research Ethics Committee and signature of the participants of the Free and Informed Consent Form. Results: Among the variables analyzed statistically, there was a predominance of males (63.3%), aged between 60 and 74 years (75%) who depend exclusively on the SUS (97.5%), with all research participants being Brazilian , literate (85%), Catholic (55%), married marital status (45.8%), who declared themselves mixed race (80.8%) and studied up to 8 years or more (40.8%). This research shows the prevalence of pathologies that affect elderly people, highlighting systemic arterial hypertension (81.6%), followed by diabetes mellitus (33.3%), coronary artery disease and depression (25.8%). of participants aged 60 to 74 years were overweight with a BMI >27 (kg/m²), in the categorical variable of the Clinical-Functional Vulnerability Index, people did not fail to carry out their instrumental activities of daily living, shopping (75%) and controlling their money (79.1%), as well as basic activities of daily living such as taking a shower alone (84.1%) related to their physical conditions. In terms of mobility (83.3%) can raise their arms above the shoulder and (87.5%) can hold and handle small objects. Only (18.2%) of participants reported difficulty walking. Final considerations: This research showed that the clinical functional vulnerability index of the participants was <7 classified with the low vulnerability score (robust), with an age range of 60 to 74 years, with the majority being male, married, literate, with autonomy in their basic and instrumental life activities.
