SUMMARY:

Objective: To analyse the time trend and projection of congenital syphilis cases in a northeastern Brazilian state, as well as to analyse data on the completeness of notification of mortality from congenital syphilis. Methods: The first article will analyse time series and projections with data from the state of Rio Grande do Norte, involving all cases of congenital syphilis reported in the state between 2008 and 2022. The completeness analysis will be based on the Romero and Cunha score, which assesses the percentage of missing data and classifies the quality of completeness as excellent, good or fair. Results: With regard to the forecast of the number of cases, by the year 2025 there should be relative stabilisation of cases in the 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th Regions. Only the 1st Region showed a slight upward trend until 2025, with a range of 45.99 to 302.36 cases per thousand live births, peaking in 2025. The results of the second article are still being analysed. Conclusion: The state's challenges in meeting the targets set have been highlighted. In addition, the methods used helped to analyse cases of congenital syphilis in order to identify the highest incidences, suggesting the obstacles they face.
