SUMMARY:

Background: Health training directly influences the quality of services that will be offered to the population. In this sense, the teaching-service-community relationship allows students to know and act at different levels of health care. Teaching in the community starts from the perspective of development and insertion of the student in the field of practice, being positive throughout their training process. By being able to unite different health professions, interprofessional education is characterized as a protagonist, an innovative approach, which positively influences the basic service network. In view of the above, this research is justified due to the need and importance of highlighting the contributions of teaching in the community, and the students' perspective on this. Objective: To analyze the contributions of teaching in the community to the training of health professionals. Methodology: This is an exploratory study with a qualitative approach, using information collected from students' portfolios about their experiences in the community. Data analysis was performed manually, together with Microsoft Word software. Results: Teaching in the community presents itself as an enriching training tool, positively impacting health training, allowing students to develop critical thinking and some skills.
