SUMMARY:

Introduction: The LGBTQIAPN+ population is considered vulnerable in all social contexts, and when it comes to the transgender segment, social discrepancies are even greater. In the health sector, this group is considered one of the most vulnerable populations, with an estimated life expectancy of around 35 years. The lack of official data on gender identity and sexual orientation hampers the implementation of public policies. Objective: To understand the profiles of users of the Transsexual and Transvestite Outpatient Clinic in the city of Natal/RN (TT Outpatient Clinic). Methods: The analysis was conducted in two stages: 1) A cross-sectional, descriptive study with a quantitative approach to understand the profile of trans people at the Transsexual and Transvestite Outpatient Clinic in Natal/RN, using secondary data collected from the intake forms of the service, enabling analysis through simple counting and presented in tables. 2) A descriptive study with a quantitative approach, using secondary data from the intake forms of the TT Outpatient Clinic in Natal/RN to characterize mental health conditions, including suicidal thoughts, attempts, self-harm, and identify types of violence among those who access the TT Outpatient Clinic. Results: 1) A total of N=290 intake forms from the Transsexual and Transvestite Outpatient Clinic in Natal/RN were analyzed, of which 281 met the eligibility criteria. It was found that the majority of service users were trans men (46.98%) and trans women (41.64%), followed by non-binary people (6.41%) and transvestites (3.91%). Regarding sexual orientation, a significant portion identified as heterosexual (44.13%), bisexual (14.59%), pansexual (11.39%), followed by homoaffective (3.91%), while lesbians and asexuals each represented (0.71%). The median age range was 23 years. 2) About 48% of users reported not having undergone psychological follow-up, while 32% stated they had. Most cases of transphobic violence were reported by black or brown individuals, representing approximately 62.89% of cases. A significant portion of users, approximately 63%, reported having suicidal thoughts, while about 42% admitted attempting suicide. Additionally, approximately 38% reported practicing self-harm. Final considerations: Sexual orientation and gender identity are recognized by the Ministry of Health as determinants and conditioners of health status. The absence of data prevents the funding of actions to guarantee basic rights for this population. Stigma and social exclusion can generate suffering and limit the TT population's access to healthcare.
