The "NEW" HIGH SCHOOL SYLLABUS IN THE STATE OF RIO GRANDE DO NORTE: Implications for Physical Education teaching.
New High School Education; Physical Education; Potiguar High School Education; Curriculum.
In 2016, the counter-reform of High School Education emerged as a major problem for what is understood as public, free, and quality education. In this process, Physical Education was discredited in the face of the neoliberal proposals for the “New” High School Education (NEM), which began to be implemented abruptly in the Brazilian states in 2018. Thus, the objective of the present research is to analyze the guidelines for the teaching of Physical Education in the state of Rio Grande do Norte in the context of the counter-reform of High School Education. In light of Historical-Dialectical Materialism and the contributions of Historical-Critical Pedagogy, the study intends to analyze the phenomenon in question. The research consists of a documentary analysis conducted through a qualitative approach. Up to the present moment, it is evident that the NEM aims to accelerate the entry of students into the labor market by proposing a curriculum based on flexibility as a method, an education mediated by the pedagogy of competencies, causing subjects to be adjusted to the neoliberal ideology.
