POSSIBLE MASCULINITIES: A DISCURSIVE ANALYSIS FROM THE CONTENT PUBLISHED ON THE @papodehomem profile on INSTAGRAM
This research discusses the development of studies on masculinity in Brazil since the 1990s, highlighting the recognition of multiple forms of masculinity. The studies consider negative and positive aspects of masculine constructions that are less prominent or have negative connotations. The discourse on masculinities affirms that the masculine is plural, and there are several forms of identification. Thus, different positions and identities can be seen as masculine within the discussion of masculinities, including those found in social movements such as the LGBTQIAP+ movement and in advertising-influenced media discourses. The study focuses on the Instagram profile @papodehomem and its representations of masculinities. The content of this profile addresses discussions about masculinity from an intersectional and gender equity perspective, offering practical advice for movements for change, real-life examples, and cases related to masculinities. In this context, the present study aims to analyze the discourse produced by @papodehomem as a producer of meanings about contemporary masculinities through its posts on Instagram. The dissertation has four chapters and begins with an introduction, followed by chapters that discuss the archeology of masculinities, the influence of cyberspace and media activism on social movements in digital social networks, and the methodological assumptions used in the research. The analysis aims to understand how the @papodehomem in deconstructing hegemonic narratives about masculinities. The study uses a qualitative research method, specifically Netnography and Discourse Analysis.
