THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE DISCURSIVE ETHOS IN THE PUBLIC COMMUNICATION OF SCIENCE IN THE JOURNAL OF THE UNIVERSITY OF SÃO PAULO
Public Communication of Science; Discursive Ethos; Speech analysis.
This investigation deals with an analysis of the discursive ethos of the reports aimed at the Public Communication of Science in the Jornal da Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Thus, it starts from the question of how the discursive practice of science reports uses the constituent discourse of science, and therefore the paratopia, for the construction of the discursive ethos of USP, from the perspective of Maingueneau (2006, 2010). The methodology has as its empirical object the Jornal da USP and the period from August to September 2021 as the temporal corpus. The survey of published news occurred through the constructed week methodology; in total, 10 news were obtained from the Science section of Jornal da USP, which offers a sample of what is produced by the university's communication team. The analysis collaborates with the advancement of reflections on Public Communication of Science, analyzing scientific journalism as part of the institutional communication strategy aimed at disseminating the science produced in institutions.
