HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS BY THE MEDIA: AN ANALYSIS ON TRANSPHOBIA IN RN'S ONLINE NEWS PORTALS AND ITS SOCIAL REPRESENTATION
Media Studies. Transphobia. Critical Discourse Analysis. Social Representation. News Portals.
Society is marked by different forms of human rights violations in different social dimensions, one of which is the media, especially with regard to populations in a greater situation of socioeconomic vulnerability, such as transsexuals and transvestites. Based on this reality, this work will have two moments of investigation, one that verifies how transphobia appears in the news and another that analyzes from which social representations these people are presented. For this, we will analyze the following online news portals in Rio Grande do Norte: Portal Agora RN; In the Minute Portal; Portal G1 RN; Portal VNT and Blog do BG, in a time frame of five years (2014 to 2018). This issue is mainly involved in the fields of gender and transsexuality, directly related to gender violence, transphobia and media, in which we started. To understand the analyzes we will use Van Dijk's Critical Discourse Analysis (2000, 2004, 2013, 2015) articulated with the concept of social representation by Moscovici (2007).
