QUALITY OF BRAZILIAN PUBLIC TV: an analysis of the Jornal da Cultura

The current research proposes to investigate about the quality telejournalism in the Brazilian public television, using as analysis subject the Jornal da Cultura - Second edition. The purpose is to identify, from predefined quality parameters, how the content selection, audience participation e the didactical way of presenting the themes can interfere in the quality of the tv news. In addition, it is possible to ponder on the journalistic practice and the role of the public communication to the construction of a more equal society. For this purpose, it was employed concepts such as Quality Television (MULGAN, 1990; MACHADO, 2000 and 2008; BORGES, 2008), Quality Journalism (COUTINHO, 2013;GOMES; 2006) and Public Communication (BOLAÑO, 2010; TORVES, 2007).The methodology used was the Content Analysis (BARDIN, 1977), as a form to comprehend the object and identify its weaknesses and strengths. Alongside with that, that will be a non-participant observation, bibliography research and interview. All that, to obtain an overview of the journalism practice in the Jornal da Cultura, needed to the accuracy of our research and the success of the investigation.
