NETWORK JOURNALISM: A DIGITAL CARTOGRAPHY OF EL PAÍS
Network Journalism. Cyberjournalism. Digital Social Media. Cybeculture. Media Studies. Social Practices.
We intend to investigate and map the formation of digital communication network of the company El País in Brazil, with emphasis on the routines of production and distribution of journalistic content through digital social media. The Spanish communications company presents itself as a "global newspaper" and represents a current dynamic of expansion of the digital network of communication vehicles around the world, such as the BBC (England), BuzzFeed (USA) and G1 (Brazil). We believe that from the detailing of the production and content distribution of El País Brazil we can map a scenario of practices common to other newsrooms that work exclusively with digital production. Pointing out work routines and the tools used. From this understanding, we are able to analyze this new scenario of production and distribution of cyberjournalism content. For that, we will go through the paths suggested by the Actor-Network Theory (LATOUR, 2012) and the Symbolic Cartography (SANTOS, 1998; 2001), in order to describe and analyze the importance of the human / technology relationship in this digital structure. For the data collection, we used methods and techniques of systematic observation, in-depth interviews that were used to map, describe, categorize and analyze this new professional scenario that is under shaping.
