Imagistic Memes and the elections in 2014: an analysis of discourse and meaning production on Facebook

This research project aims to analyze the imagistic memes of the Internet as a media discourse on Facebook during the period of presidential elections in Brazil in 2014. As a central issue, the research discusses how the discourses constructed and replicated through memes, contributed to political representation on this network over the period in question, focusing on the cut corresponding to the presidential debates in the first round. The study seeks to describe the phenomena of meaning arising from the symbolic language of imagistic present memes in the dynamic communication of Facebook, and both should be based on the French Discourse Analysis as the main methodological tool.
