SUMMARY:

The obtaining of elected positions by far-right representatives in Brazil is not a real novelty. However, upon reaching the presidency of the republic, the aforementioned political current gains a significant space of power with national and international repercussions. In view of this, exploring the insertion of educational institutions, such as universities, in this political context, may characterize not only the attacks of the aforementioned extreme right on education, but also the resistance responses, by demonstrating the actions of its actors, teachers, students, technicians and academic community faced with this situation. It is in this context that this research aims to answer the following starting question: How do far-right governments affect public universities? The understanding of this permeates the rise of the extreme right in Brazil, embodied in Bolsonaro's election in 2018, in addition to its conservative, authoritarian and neoliberal properties, especially when it comes to universities. In view of this, it will be necessary to proceed with a literature review to understand this complex political and social context. Furthermore, through qualitative content analysis research, the aim is to characterize attacks and resistance experienced during the Bolsonaro government. To this end, it is planned to carry out a survey and analysis of acts and demonstrations recorded by unions of university workers, teachers and administrative technicians, and by the higher education student movement. This is documentary research in the period that encompasses the four years of the Bolsonaro government, from 2019 to 2022. Thus, it will be possible to characterize the actions of the extreme right in relation to Brazilian public universities, based on a case study of the President's government Jair Bolsonaro, understanding the attack measures and resistance responses experienced during the period.
