ACTIONS AND INACTIONS ABOUT LGBTQIA+ AGING IN RIO GRANDE DO NORTE (2021-2024)
LGBTQIA Aging; care; agenda; social movements; council.
The following study aims to understand the processes of shaping an agenda on LGBTQIA+ aging in Rio Grande do Norte between 2021 and 2024. I seek to comprehend these processes through two avenues: the LGBTQIA+ social movements and, institutionally, through the State Council of LGBTQIA+ Public Policies. Additionally, the objective is to understand the experiences and perceptions of aging among elderly and/or non-elderly individuals involved in these movements and the Council. Methodologically, I opt for Grounded Theory and employ techniques such as saturation, content analysis, and documentary analysis of the Council's meeting minutes, alongside participant observation. As preliminary results, I highlight the silence and inaction of these entities regarding LGBTQIA+ aging, despite the numerous challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ elderly individuals in RN.
