SUMMARY:

Introduction: Respiratory muscle training (RMT) has been widely
studied worldwide. Therefore, knowledge of cardiovascular and
respiratory physiology during the use of resistors is essential for a
safe prescription of training. Objectives: to deepen studies on
hemodynamic and respiratory mechanisms, peripheral tissue
oxygenation and respiratory muscle electrical activity involved
during the use of the bidirectional valve. Methodology: previously
healthy volunteers will be recruited and invited to participate in an
assessment consisting of: level of physical activity, function and
respiratory muscle strength. During the use of the bidirectional
valve, 3 pre-established protocols with simultaneous inspiratory

and expiratory loads will be used: 1) 40% of MIP and 20% of
MEP, 2) 20% of MIP and 10% of MEP and 3) 10% of MIP and 5%
of MEP, with the individual sitting at rest. Hemodynamic variables
such as cardiac output, systolic volume, systemic vascular
resistance, left ventricular work and left ventricular ejection time
will be evaluated through electrical impedance cardiography using
the Fisioflow equipment. Respiratory flows will be analyzed using
a pneumotachograph (PNT). Descriptive analysis will be
performed using absolute and/or percentage frequencies and
statistics using GraphPad Prism version 5 software, with data
normality using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and a significance
level of 5%. Expected results: It is expected to analyze the
behavior of hemodynamic, electromyographic and respiratory
variables that may occur during the use of the bidirectional valve,
enabling a better understanding of respiratory and cardiovascular
dynamics during the prescription of respiratory training, thus
contributing to the assertive prescription of respiratory muscle
training.
