Thisresearchwasperformed in themainaccessroadstotheTraditional Center of Campina Grande-Paraíba, onNortheastofBrazil. It searchtounderstandthechangesandrestructurationofthisurbanspace in thelasttenyears. The mainobjectiveofthisresearchistoanalysetheformationprocessof new centralityareasbycommercialandservicesexpansionareas, in the perspective ofthespaceproduction. Thisexpansionispartof a decentralizationprocess. Thus, there are some questionstobeanswered: Howdidtheprocessofurbanexpansionoccured in Campina Grande, aftertheinstallationofnewcommercial establishments onthemainroadsofthiscity? Howdidemergencethese new centralareas in the center-peripherydirectionandtheirrelationtotheTraditional Center? Whatreformulationshapenned in thetertiary sector andwhatnewserviceswereprovided in theseareas? Thesetrafficroutes, whichoncehadaexclusivelyresidential profile, havepassedby intense reformulations, beingreconfigured in new areasof comercial interest, as theinstallationof shopping malls, supermarkets, franchisestoresandbanks, for example. Ourhypothesisisto show thatthisprocessoccursfromthedecentralizationofcommercialactivitiesandservicesoftheTraditional Center, drivenbythespreadingoftheroadaxles in variousdirectionsofcityexpansion. For this, we use theTheoryofSpace, writtenby Henri Lefebvre in “TheProductionof Space” (2000), whichanalyzesthe material spacesociallyproduced. Ourthesisintendstorepresent new reflectionsontheTheoryof Space, bytheconsideroftherecentstrutural dynamics in Campina Grande. It wasrealized a researchoftheusesintheseroadways, that are new commercialareas. Theintentionwastoobtainadiagnosisoftheseroutes, in attempttounderstandtheprocessofurbanexpansionthroughthecapitalistwayofspaceproduction. The partialresultsofthisresearch, realized in Apriland May 2017, shows thefunctionalcharacteristicsofthebuildings in theavenues Severino Bezerra Cabral, Floriano Peixoto, Manoel Tavares, Manoel Gonçalves Guimarães, Juscelino Kubitschek and Assis Chateaubriand, aimingtounderstandtheformationof new centralityareasbytheinstallationoflarge comercial establishments in thesespaces.
