SUMMARY:

In the academic sphere, geodiversity still deserves greater recognition compared to studies of the Earth's abiotic diversity. This approach is relatively recent, gaining prominence in the 1990s amid global discussions on climate change. One of the branches that studies and aids in understanding geodiversity is geoheritage, which encompasses a wide variety of categories (e.g., geomorphological, mineralogical, paleontological heritage, among others), functioning as an umbrella concept, with geomorphological heritage receiving greater focus in this research. The evaluation of geoheritage also promotes environmental protection by safeguarding abiotic elements. The promotion of geoheritage is crucial for the development of geotourism, as it helps disseminate and enhance geoheritage through appreciation, interpretation, and geoconservation. This research emphasizes the geomorphological heritage of the Sertão Paraibano, particularly in the municipalities of Imaculada – PB, Maturéia – PB, and Teixeira – PB. It seeks to highlight the diversity of geomorphological elements and their associations, aiming to evaluate geomorphological heritage given the extensive variety of granite macro- and microforms. Their genesis is associated with different denudational processes and discontinuity surfaces, which exhibit diverse associated values—scientific, for the records of Cenozoic climatic variations and tectonic reactivations that represent their geomorphological evolution; cultural, for the traditional activities carried out in these areas; and aesthetic, due to their scenic beauty and potential for implementing geotourism activities aimed at local development. The qualitative inventory of the geomorphological heritage in the aforementioned municipalities was conducted based on the inventory sheet by Araújo (2021). Fieldwork and office analyses were carried out to identify and describe the geosites: i) Pedra do Tendó; ii) Poço do Cafundó; iii) Pedra do Vento; iv) Pedra das Cajazeiras; v) Pico do Jabre; vi) Pedra do Cabloco; vii) Cachoeira do Ó; and viii) Pedra da Ponte. All sites were rated with high aesthetic and scientific value in the qualitative evaluation of the inventory sheet, underscoring their importance for conservation. The sites that received the highest degree of scientific recognition were Pedra do Tendó, Pico do Jabre, and Pedra do Cabloco, due to their easy accessibility and existing academic studies. This study emphasizes the importance of expanding research on geodiversity to improve and establish conservation and local tourism plans in the studied municipalities. It highlights the need for sustainable development that does not degrade the geoforms of these sites, which are the primary attractions for tourists.
