STRATEGIES ADAPTED TO DIGITAL RPG GAMES FOR CARTOGRAPHIC TEACHING AND LEARNING
Geography Teaching; Cartography; Digital Educational Games.
Cartography teaching, within the context of the Geography discipline, faces serious deficiencies due to a series of challenges that generate deficits that spread throughout people's lives. The scarcity of resources, teacher training and updating, lack of student interest, outdated teaching methodology, among others, are some of these factors. An alternative for change is its articulation with the students' reality, establishing connections between content, encouraging protagonism in the construction of geographic knowledge with innovations in educational technologies, especially digital educational games, valuing students' experiences, knowledge and identities. However, for digital games to reach their full potential, they need to be contextualized through engaging challenges, stimulating reflection, critical analysis and engagement. One way is to modify games, such as Minecraft, as a gaming environment. experimentation and the creation of quests/missions. Therefore, this study aims to develop cartographic Quests into a teaching resource in the format of a digital educational game, aimed at teaching Geography, capable of enabling cartographic practice in an immersive and fun way. Thus, this research is complex as a case study that involves an in-depth and comprehensive analysis of strategies adapted for cartographic teaching and learning, seeking to obtain thorough and detailed knowledge about digital educational games, relying on a Systematic Mapping of Literature carried out with the purpose of searching for works that have the same profile of developing digital educational games for the topic of Cartography. Finally, the result of this work is expected to contribute to modifications in Minecraft that enable cartographic learning in a meaningful way for Geography teaching. In order to demonstrate that a teacher can act as a participant in the design process of a digital educational game, overcoming the challenges of working with a series of new digital technologies.
