  • Faced with the difficult that buildings of historical interest face in order to be approved by agencies such as the fire department, as they require, in most cases, the performance of some physical interventions to meet the minimum fire safety conditions, the present work of professional master´s qualification, consisting of a technical report and a technical project of architectural intervention, has as study the suitability of the building of the Seridó Museum located in the city of Caicó/RN aiming at Fire Safety. The choice of theme was due to the proximity of the professional practice exercised by the author in the project sector of the infrastructure superintendence of UFRN and the real demand to adapt the referred building in order to meet the current needs of the museum. The research has as main objective the development of a preliminary project to adapt the architecture of the Seridó Museum with the launch of fire safety measures in this type of built heritage, with the specific objectives of using the Rio Grande Fire and Panic Safety Code do Norte and its Technical Instructions to represent a reality of the project and identify the possibilities and difficulties imposed by this type of building, wishing to meet the above-mentioned regulations and observe the recommendations of interventions proposed by the Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional – IPHAN meeting the fire and panic requirements in the environment under study. To develop the project, a theoretical-conceptual deepening on the subject was initially carried out, through bibliographic research and studies of design references (precedent or related). Then, the architectural program was developed. From this base, and with the help of the curricular components of the course, the design process was gradually developed and mapped, through different forms of registration, from the initial stages of studies of constraints, conception and development of the architectural party. The results achieved consist of the proposed intervention for the construction of the Seridó Museum in order to meet fire safety standards and the guidelines recommended by IPHAN.

  • This professional master's final work is an architectural proposal, accompanied by a technical report, with the objective of conceiving a project for the biomedical university residence at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), with a focus on integration with the surroundings. Currently, in operation and with a vital social function, the biomedical university residence at UFRN presents a series of technical and functional problems that hinder its use. The difficulty of access and the isolation between the building and its surroundings, together with the lack of accessibility, highlight the need for changes in the physical structure of the site. Therefore, this work proposes a new configuration for the housing space, aiming to promote the collectivity and the relationship between its residents, the building, and its immediate surroundings. For the development of the project, a theoretical-conceptual deepening was initially carried out on the theme and on the architectural variables involved, through bibliographical research and studies of design references. Then, the architectural programming was developed together with the definition of design dilemmas and the scope of the project. With the help of the curricular components of the course and various forms of recording, such as sketches, physical models, and drawings using software, the design process encompassed the study of constraints, the creation of a concept, the definition of the architectural approach and the evolution of the proposal, going through the stages of analysis, synthesis, and evaluation. The projected building is proposed in a hybrid structure, incorporating prestressed concrete and steel in its design. It has 05 floors developed in accordance with the programming and concepts set out in the report. Finally, the proposal sought integration at its different levels, adequacy to legal issues, enhancing access and promoting accessibility, connecting its surroundings, and creating spaces with elements that improve the community at the macro and micro scales of the project.

  • The main problem of the present study is the waste of water in buildings due to the scarcity of this resource at a global level and the low level of awareness for the rational use of the product. The report presents an architectural project proposal for the Water Ecomuseu, located in the area of Lagoa do Jiqui, in Parnamirim, Rio Grande do Norte. The specific objectives of the project are to plan environmental education activities, understand the impact of design decisions on the rational use of water in buildings, as well as analyze constructive methods to reduce water consumption and propose the use of passive and extensive systems for the treatment of sewage. The location is representative for the proposal of an ecomuseum that encourages community participation in the problem, as it is one of the main sources of supply in the city of Natal. The theoretical framework is based on the new museology such as the design and configuration of the ecomuseum, the concepts of rational use of water, as well as studies that can support the idea of the ecomuseum. The methodology includes a bibliographic survey and identification of studies of design references indirectly (related projects) and directly (on-site visit). The proposal is for a building with open spaces, wide circulation and visibility with the surroundings in order to integrate it into the existing space. It is expected that the ecomuseum will be a place of scientific and artistic manifestation to promote awareness, learning and mobilization of the population around the water theme.

  • The historic site of Cuó, located in the city of Caicó/RN, comprises the archaeological
    ruins of two pre-existing buildings: Casa Forte do Cuó (Cuó’s fort house) and the first Capela
    de Santana (Santana’s Chapel). With constructions whose records date from the end of the 17th
    century, they are considered the first post-colonization buildings erected in the region today
    understood as the Potiguar Seridó. Although much visited, mainly due to the visuals provided
    by the geography of the site and the traditional sunset, Cuó is still little recognized for its
    historical importance. In this context, the main objective of this work is to conceive an
    intervention project for the ruins of Cuó, aiming at the protection of pre-existence, the
    strengthening of its protagonism and symbolism inside the site and the insertion of equipment
    that provide a social and dynamic use. As a final product, an preliminary project is presented,
    accompanied by a technical report, which approach all the stages that were crucial for the
    project design exercise: theoretical and conceptual references; physical and historical survey of
    the ruins; study of previous projects; conditioning study; architectural programming;
    preliminary study and the description of the preliminary project. Furthermore, at the same time
    that it analyzes and defines interventionist postures in the built patrimony, especially in terms
    of design decisions and guidelines, the project proposes the use of constructive techniques and
    materials from the vernacular architecture of Seridó as a way of reinforcing and enhancing the
    local identity

  • This professional master's thesis consists of an architectural project of a Community Center, Sustainable, in the Guarapes neighborhood, west administrative region of Natal/RN, with an emphasis on constructive alternatives with low environmental impact, aligned with bioclimatic strategies and a technical report. Over recent years, the search for new constructive systems has been constant, since natural resources are finite. What is intended to be presented in this work is the viability of using an ancestral, sustainable and little explored constructive system. Sand architecture emerges as a viable solution for the advancement of environmental degradation, since this constructive system has numerous advantages in terms of its use. This work intends to present the technique of architecture and construction with Sand as a viable solution with low environmental impact. As the Guarapes neighborhood does not have strategic community equipment, sought to develop a proposal of a Community Center using Sand architecture as an incentive and knowledge of this sustainable construction system. For the development of the proposal, a theoretical-conceptual deepening on the theme was carried out, through a bibliographical review and studies of design references that guided the development of the project, in the definition of the concept, party and architectural programming. Moreover, the subjects taken during the Program were essential to the design process, which resulted in a proposal that was functional, sustainable and with an architectural quality at the level of the preliminary design.

  • This professional master's conclusion work consists of the architectural design of a housing unit offered in 6 typological modules for different family conformations with an emphasis on flexibility and adaptation of rational construction techniques. This document consists of a technical report and an architectural project, developed with the aim of uniting solutions and construction techniques that facilitate a sensible and sustainable project in the Northeast region. With this, a project is created that considers the various family arrangements, in view of the constant need for renovations or replacements of housing and the lack of real estate, arising from projects that do not have aspects of resilience. In addition, flexibility is considered to adapt to countless transformations in ways of life and groups of people, such as the reduction of structures and the diversity of family entities on the rise. Professional practice and contact with constructive artisanal processes have enhanced reflections about the architectural needs in the region, and the constructive technologies that use expanded polystyrene and can contribute to the quality of the building. For the development of the architectural proposal, a theoretical-conceptual deepening was carried out on the theme of housing, flexibility, and industrialization of construction, through bibliographic research and studies of design references (precedent or related). Then, the architectural programming was developed, with the definition of dilemmas, project goals, and guidelines, which contributed to the progress of the master's dissertation proposal. Based on this base, and with the help of the course disciplines, the design process was gradually developed and mapped, using various forms of recording, in analog and digital media, from the initial stages of conditioning and design studies to the improvement of the architectural party. As a result of the studies carried out, six typologies were developed, at the level of a preliminary study, and the detailing, at the level of an executive project, of the embryo typology, which makes use of the constructive technology of monolithic expanded polystyrene panels (EPS).

  • This volume refers to the Professional Master's Completion Work, in the qualification phase. It consists of a technical report and a technical project at the draft level, whose theme is Equestrian Architecture. In view of the deficiency of equestrian spaces, both at the local and national levels, that are specifically designed and adapted to their needs, it is expected to contribute to this lack through a sustainable solution. Thus, the objective of this work is to elaborate an architectural project of an Equestrian Sports Space, considering the aspects of tectonics, biophilic design and sustainability principles, as project guides. In order to carry out the proposal, it was necessary to carry out research with a theoretical and technical approach, studies in bibliographic references, related design case studies and on-site visits in buildings of the same building typology. In addition, the propositional phase included architectural programming, definition of project dilemmas and goals, definition of architectural concepts and parties, formal studies through physical models and preliminary studies. From these initial studies and with the help of the knowledge acquired from the curricular components studied in the master's degree, the design process was gradually developed and mapped, in various forms of registration. The solutions sought aimed to reduce the environmental impact in a sustainable way, taking into account the scale of the horse and the human scale, in order to establish a good relationship between them and meet the goals established in this work. The proposal presented here sought architectural strategies with solutions through the adoption of low-cost and easy-to-maintain materials to maximize environmental comfort for all users of the designed space (both rotating-man and fixed-horse users). The results achieved consist of a building designed in two curved blocks, in earthy materials, which are interconnected by walkways over a wet area, promoting good levels of environmental comfort and sensations. It is expected that the proposal meets the objectives set in this work.

  • This final work consists of a Retrofit proposal for the Ducal Building, located in the Cidade Alta,
    in Natal,RN - Brazil, consisting of a technical report documents relating to an architectural
    project. Because it is a modernist building - designed and built in the 1970s, when regulations
    were not very specific and judicious - the building with 19 floors, designed to be the largest
    and most luxurious hotel in the city, showed little potential for adaptability to the conditions
    imposed by time, whether due to the emptying of the center or the restrictions imposed by the
    updating of regulations. With an obsolete structure and installations, it is now partially banned
    and in disuse, as a result of technical recommendations issued by various competent bodies
    such as the Fire Department, the Public Ministry, among others, in view of its non-compliance
    with current legislation. This project aims to bring together living spaces, leisure and shared
    services in a single building, aimed at different family profiles, as well as a gallery of shops,
    coworking and offices, configuring a mixed-use building, a typology that, together with the
    Retrofit, has been gaining strength in Brazil in recent years. The intervention proposal aims at
    the incorporation of new uses and functions to the existing building and, consequently, to its
    insertion area, focusing mainly on aspects of accessibility, safety and comfort, also worrying
    about the dialogue between the building and the street and the various possible visual
    connections to the Potengi River and the Historic Center of the capital. It was mainly based on
    the design process developed by Lawson (2011), with the contribution of other authors
    compiled in the work of Kowaltowski et al. (2011), obtaining as a result the resolution of the
    listed problems and, finally, a building capable of covering current demands, of the most
    diverse, with shape and aesthetics fully respecting the preexisting, taking advantage of the
    built potential and the already existing and consolidated infrastructure in that region, aiming at
    the reactivation of urbanity and local vitality. It is believed that, finally, the work reached the
    previously established objectives, contributing significantly to the discussion of the theme,
    mainly, in what consists of treating modernist buildings as an integral part of the city's historical
    collection and also regarding the need to propose uses to these buildings consistent with the
    local and current reality.

  • The present work for the conclusion of the professional master's degree aims to develop the preliminary design of a revitalization project for a building of heritage value, the Post Office Building in Ribeira, Natal - RN, focusing on environmental comfort, being composed of a technical report and an architectural project. The original building was designed by the architects Paulo Candiota and Mário Fertin, in 1934, as a result of the modernist movement, which adopted innovations from the plastic-formal point of view, abandoning the axial composition and applying new materials, aiming to provide its users with environmental comfort. Over time, the building has undergone several interventions in order to meet new demands, the environmental comfort and the flow of the projected uses, were directly compromised and modified, in view of the changes. In this way, the work consists of rescuing the original primitives of the project, through an extended research, in theoretical references, in the areas of revitalization in historical heritage, environmental comfort, regarding thermal, luminous and acoustic comfort, through studies of reference projects, and through a detailed historical and documental rescue. Also considered for the development of the proposal were the legal constraints, which include laws, norms and normative instructions, the physical and environmental constraints, and the functional aspects. In order to subsidize the project development, a program of needs was elaborated, where the design dilemmas were related to their respective project goals. Considering the specific objectives, the research based the project strategies, by sectoring, zoning and general lines of the architectural program, so the solutions adopted consisted in the treatment of the functionality of the façade elements, in the adequacy of the internal environments and external areas, and in the adaptation to meet the laws in force. The preliminary design, resulting from the research, sought to provide environmental comfort to the users of the building, in aspects related to ventilation, lighting and acoustics, besides promoting the conformation with the specificities of the original project, and formally meeting the criteria proposed in the research

  • This work consists of a Technical Report and Project of architectural intervention of a building of commercial use, in a specific Municipal Public Market of Pescado in Macapá/AP. Aimed at users in the Igarapé das Mulheres area, the current Mercado do Pescado presents unfavorable sanitary conditions to the practice of food trade and infrastructure incompatible with the activities and number of local traders. The Igarapé das Mulheres area and the Mercado do Pescado have strong symbolism for the city of Macapá, for being an area that maintains the typical cultural traits of the cities along the Amazon River. To develop the project, a theoreticalconceptual deepening of notions about landscape, public market and bioclimatic strategies for the humid hot climate was initially carried out through bibliographic research and studies of related project references. Then, the architectural programming was developed, with definition of the dilemmas and goals of the project. From this base and with the help of the curricular components of the course, the projectual process was gradually developed and mapped, through various forms of registration, since the initial stages of conditioning studies, conception and development of the architectural party. The research aims to propose a building that dialogue with the surrounding landscape and offer adequate conditions for the performance of local activities with low maintenance from the energy point of view, taking into account the difficulties that traders currently face to maintain the existing building and still ensure proper hygiene during food handling. Considering the specific objectives, the work sought to study the landscape milestones and the project theme - as an intervention that promotes sociability, in addition to maintaining the cultural traits of the city - so that it is possible to guarantee the thermal performance of the projected building. The results achieved so far consist in a proposal of a Commercial Complex that includes the internal resizing of the existing Fishing Market and the conception of new adjacent buildings, with emphasis on taking advantage of the potential of the landscape landmarks and impact on the thermal comfort of the building, seeking to offer better working conditions for local merchants. By studying the landscape of the Amazon Region it was possible to understand the natural and cultural potentialities of the site that can be turned down in an architectural project proposal to be explored in professional practice in Macapá/AP. It is possible to conclude that the study of the landscape of a certain place offers a variety of elements that have a direct impact on the quality of the project design and contribute to the construction of an architecture that fits and reveals the history of the city.

  • Project management is an important means to help professionals in the civil
    construction area in planning their activities and, thus, succeed in their undertakings. One of the
    sectors of management that can contribute to the design process, including the architectural one,
    would be risk management, since the good use of its guidelines helps identifying as well as
    minimizing the effects of negative unforeseen events on the project. However, this is a branch of
    management that is still not extensively widespread in the construction industry, especially in the
    context of architectural projects. The lack of a significant amount of studies to address the most
    outstanding risks during the conception of any architectural design leads designers to rely almost
    exclusively on their intuition. As a result of this shortage of standards, changes in delivery
    schedules together with budgeting mishaps are usual outcomes. In this context, the present paper
    aims to help disseminating knowledge in regards to this particular subject and as a matter of fact
    established a case study of a high-rise apartment building and the application of risk management
    techniques and tools throughout its design process. Therefore, the main goal of this report is to
    develop the architectural design of a high-rise apartment building, adopting design decisions in
    response to technical risks of greater impact to the project. To develop this project some steps
    were carried out: theoretical-conceptual deepening on high-rise housing and project
    management; analysis of design-references studies that served as a basis for the architectural
    design; application of risk management strategies in the design of a high-rise apartment building;
    investigation of design constraints such as physical-environmental and by-law aspects. While
    apllying risk management processes and tools, it was possible to identify the three main negative
    impacts to the project: budget overrun, incorrect selection of materials, and lack of interaction
    with local building methods. As a response, we applied building rationalization, optimization of
    materials through research in the local market, and the application of regional building elements,
    promoting their appreciation. The result is a ten-storey high-rise apartment building design,
    which features as remarkable attributes the modular coordination of constructive elements in
    addition to the use of local materials on its facades. It is believed that the final result of this work
    achieved the stipulated goals and contributed to the maturation of the theme, especially when it
    comes specifically to architectural projects.

  • This Course Conclusion Paper, composed of a technical-scientific report and technical project,
    presents the theoretical and technical basis, as well as the guidelines and strategies adopted
    in the elaboration of an architectural intervention project in a building for public use, of an
    administrative nature, located at the Central Campus of UFRN. Buildings in general are
    susceptible to the action of time, suffering wear (to a greater or lesser degree) in systems and
    components by use, by natural agents, among others. The retrofit process consists of planning
    and actions aimed at technological readjustment and, consequently, in the rescue and/or
    improvement of equipment performance. Considering the problem of lag and obsolescence of
    the building installations of the object of study, the general objective of the work is to design
    interventions (retrofit) of functionality (for the current demands) and fire safety in the
    administrative building of the UFRN Technology Center. To this end, the design constraints
    (object and users) were analyzed; aspects that involve risks to the functionality/safety of
    existing installations were verified, in accordance with current technical standards; and the
    importance of the main benefits resulting from the design and updating of public equipment
    processes was determined. In the development of the proposal, initially, a vast theoretical and
    conceptual analysis and deepening of the theme presented was carried out, especially through
    bibliographic review, looking for authors who studied the subject more emphatically, in addition
    to analyzing related projects (design precedents) for assistance in expanding the repertoire of
    technical engineering and architectural solutions. In the sequence, the characteristics of the
    built set, as well as its envelope, were determined, taking into account, above all, the aspects
    related to users (safety and functionality) and defining the guiding concept of the project
    proposal, which, in turn, enabled the structuring of architectural programming, the basis for
    characterizing the dilemmas and goals of the project. Finally, the party was defined in order to
    materialize the concept (previously suggested). Important resources (physical model, APO and
    specific softwares) were used to assist in obtaining of the desired understandings and results.
    From the studies and developments listed above, there was a gradual advance of the design
    process, with the characterization of each stage through various forms of records, in a
    continuous and logical sequence. Considering the suggested objectives, the work sought,
    through specific architectural strategies, to enhance the characteristics of the building in
    presenting solutions to the identified problems, as well as meeting the design goals in response
    to the dilemmas enumerated in the programming stage. The result is represented by the
    architectural retrofit project that includes the design proposals for the administrative building
    of the UFRN Technology Center, promoting revitalization and improvement of aspects of fire
    safety and building functionality. The correct sequence of steps that constitute good analysis
    and design practices, as well as the use of appropriate design techniques, were fundamental
    to obtain a final product with quality, which seeks to meet the wishes of the users of the
    equipment and provide a usual and purposeful architecture, in addition to contributing greatly
    to the professional development of the protagonists of the technical parts now conceived.

  • Entitled Museum of Image: Architectural Proposal for a Sensory Museum, this dissertation's main objective is to develop the architectural project of a museum that encourages the use of the senses from the user's experience in the built environment, aimed at photographic exhibitions. It presents, as an object of study, the architecture of museums and human sensory perception from the use of photography as a source of information, research instrument and form of artistic expression. Its theme is an architectural proposal for a sensory and interactive museum. Delimiting the theme, there is the intention to demonstrate how the museological experience through the image and the use of the senses can contribute to the historical-cultural education and artistic expression of society. In order to develop the project, a theoretical and conceptual deepening on the theme was initially carried out. Then, the architectural programming was developed, with definition of dilemmas and goals of the project. From this point, and with the help of the curricular components of the course, the design process was developed and mapped, through various forms of registration, from the initial stages of studies of conditioning factors, conception and development of architectural decisions. In this regard, it can be considered that this proposal involves qualitative aspects in the impact for the city and quantitative in relation to the number of people that will be reached, in addition to the aggregated economic values, being a space that invites the user and the city to reflect, from interacting, feeling and thinking, to each experience lived - and felt - in the museum space.

  • Climate-integrated shopping mall designs are a minority concerning the predominance of types with post-modern, globalized architectural language, with little or no reference to the place, and often have low commercial value. However, the growing awareness of sustainability and environmental comfort concerns related to the quality of life and against the pandemic motivate a new perspective. This work introduces the conception path and result of architectural intervention in an underused indoor area in a shopping mall in Natal, RN. The conventional conception of shopping spaces was subverted, integrating the indoor environment with the climate through design decisions focused on environmental comfort and low environmental impact. The design process began with a conceptual and theoretical basis through architectural programming, pre- dimensioning,   architectural   zoning,   and   a   project   methodology,   resulting   in   problem understanding,  intellectual  conception,  and  development.  The  design  started  selecting  the potential area of intervention on the last floor of the garage pavements. The concept was based on the metaphor of a large tree, which shelters activities providing shade, permeability to wind, and soft light. The environment requalification occurred with the expansion and reorganization of pre-existing uses and new uses according to the architectural features, such as the mezzanine, a roof lifting, and a green area addition. The development of conceptual design regarded thermal, luminous, and acoustic performances, and the selections of construction systems valued the use of  wood  for  structure  and  interior  finishing.  The  final  result  is  a  commercial  environment comparatively more sustainable than usual, with restorative characteristics for its users.

  • This work of dissertation conclusion of a professional master also consists in a technical report and architectonic project, as a preliminary study of a public institutional building intended to become the headquarters of environmental public agencies of the estate of Pernambuco as well as the city of Recife, emphasizing wooden vertical structural systems, based on a tectonic approach, added to legal and climate conditionings of the city of Recife. In order to support the project development, in the first instance, has been conducted a theoretical-conceptual analysis of the main subject and specific subthemes related to the core of the proposal, based on bibliography researches and study analysis of alike buildings. In this described procedural design, a description of the intervention area has been performed and its legal aspects have been analysed. Subsequently, an architectonical program has been created so as to define dilemmas and design guidelines. Based on these terms and supported by academic disciplines, the design guidelines was gradually developed and mapped through a variety of registers, since its initial steps of conditioning studies, conception, and development of the architectural parti to the unfolding of the final design. Considering some specific goals, it has been intended to optimize project solutions to enhance wooden structural performances on climate and environmental conditionings of intervention areas in addition to developing a proposal that reflects the institutional principles based on sustainability and permeability concepts. The results found, consist in a preliminary study of the architecture and description of the process, reaching guidelines and design solutions, as well as reflections of challenges throughout verticalized wooden designs, following the context of Brazilian civil construction. At the end, was concluded that the performance of a wooden building is closely related to the whole process and to project decisions which in this design, considered the protection of the constructive elements according to direct exposure of adverse weather conditions, overall, related to common structural elements structurally requested.

  • This Course Completion Work (professional master's degree), also composed of a technical report, consists of a retrofit proposal for the headquarters building of the State Department of Public Health of Rio Grande do Norte (Sesap/RN), with an emphasis on Fire Safety. As it is an elevated modernist building, designed and built before the decree of the first Fire Prevention and Fighting Code in Rio Grande do Norte, in 1974, the study led to the following question: how to adapt this 14-story building to the current requirements of the legislation, maintaining its architectural characteristics? The work had as general objective to develop the basic project of prevention and firefighting for the headquarters of Sesap/RN, preserving its authenticity and adapting it to the current requirements and standards of Fire Safety (SCI). From this technical project, it was observed that the architectural changes caused are due to the adequacy of the emergency exits (horizontal circulation and stairs) and the façade compartmentation (glass frames), but they are not requirements caused by the presence of modernist elements .   • This Professional Master's Conclusion Work, also constituted in a technical report, consists of an architectural project of intervention in a building of patrimonial value in the Ribeira neighborhood, destined to spaces for social, corporate events and a museum with emphasis on its memory, history and symbolism. Projects in buildings of historical interest are complex in themselves, the difficulties of adapting to contemporary times require backed decisions, especially with regard to buildings in a state of ruins. In order to develop the project, a theoretical and conceptual study of the theme of restoration was initially carried out through bibliographic research and studies of related design references. Then, the architectural programming was developed, with definition of dilemmas and goals of the project. From this base, and with the help of the curricular components of the course, the design process was gradually being developed and mapped, through various forms of registration, from the initial stages of historical survey and construction, studies of constraints, design and development of the architectural party. Considering the specific objectives, the work sought architectural strategies to minimize the impacts of the intervention, seeking reworkability and authenticity. The results achieved consist of the project proposal for the “A Samaritana” building, seeking to adapt it to its new use, reconciling the current recommendations for restoration and the current legislation. Finally, it is expected that this work, still under development, will meet the needs imposed on the project and may contribute to professional training in relation to the theme addressed.

  • This Professional Master's Degree work consists of a preliminary project for an urban bus terminal for the Planalto neighborhood, with emphasis on a construction system of rapid execution, and a technical report. Currently, a large part of the population of Natal/RN uses urban bus public transport to carry out their daily activities, such as study, work and leisure. The public transport system of a city is not only abbreviated to vehicles that transport people along different routes, but also composed of buildings, their accesses and facilities, configuring itself as a protected and safe space. However, there is no equipment of this nature in Natal/RN, compatible with the demand of people who circulate daily through the city's bus terminals. Based on this need, the objective is to propose a preliminary project for a Planalto II Bus Terminal, in Planalto neighborhood, which is functional and comfortable for the population. To develop the proposal, a theoretical-conceptual deepening on the theme was carried out, through bibliographical research and studies of related design references. Then followed the design phase, based on the definition of concept, starting with the architectural programming, definition of dilemmas and project goals. From this base and with the help of the curricular components of the course, the design process was gradually developed and mapped, through various forms of registration, from the initial stages of conditioning studies, conception, and development of the architectural party to the scope of the Terminal's proposal. As a result, there is a proposal for a functional building, using a tensioned roof, to be executed in a short period of time and with lower costs, when compared to other construction systems.

  • This Professional Masters Completion Work consists of an architectural project of a multifamily housing building with adaptable layout apartments in Recife/PE, with emphasis on dimensional and environmental quality, whose conception and design process is detailed in a technical report. We start from the premise that the real estate market, in order to increase sales, increasingly offers apartments with compact and standardized areas without questioning their quality. The objective of this project is to propose a house, seeking solutions that prioritize the dimensional and environmental quality of the spaces. To develop the project, initially, a theoretical-conceptual deepening on the subject was carried out, through bibliographical research and studies of design references, in addition to empirical studies on real estate production. Then, with the help of the Design Thinking methodology, the architectural program was developed and the design process was gradually developed, through studies and analysis that led to the definition of the concept and the architectural design. Considering the specific objectives, the work sought architectural strategies to determine the minimum dimension necessary for the activities, according to each residential environment, and the best way to organize these environments considering the environmental conditions of the proposed area. The project consists of the proposal of housing units with areas and typologies that consider the profile of the users analyzed and the current ways of living, resulting in a building whose ground floor is open to the public. It is possible to conclude that several factors influence the result of a housing proposal, the users, the activities, the location of the building, the format of the units and, due to this, it is believed that standardizing and replicating a generic housing model is insufficient in the search for quality.

  • This report integrates the qualification stage of the professional master's degree held at the
    Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, and exposes part of the development of an
    architectural project for a processing factory of an almond and cashew, with an emphasis on thermal
    comfort, in the municipality of Severiano Melo - RN. The biggest challenges in this type of
    project are to reconcile: complexity with objectivity; functional aspects with technicians; the
    size and demand of the project with financial resources; and thermal comfort in environments,
    characteristically, unhealthy with job security. The choice for the theme was based on the need
    for research in this field of knowledge, as well as on real demands for structures of this nature
    in a region producing cashew nuts and on the very challenges encountered by the author with
    work experiences in factories in this segment. The methodological research procedures include
    literature review, analysis of related projects and on-site visits in the intervention area to study
    the design constraints. The initial design phase was built from architectural programming and
    definition of design dilemmas and goals; studies on the direction and speed of the winds, the
    pressure distribution around the building (analysis made through the Flow Design program) and
    the consequent spatialization of ideas through schematic sketches and models, points that
    served as subsidies for the definition of the party architectural design. The results consist in the
    progress of an architectural product in the preliminary phase with description of the spaces and
    use in the projected buildings; as well as study of coverage favorable to thermal comfort, inside
    the environments.

  • The Brazilian Prison System suffers with the deficit of vacancy, as well as the degradation of the prison units all-over the country. The actual population of prisoners in Brazil has a total deficit of 350 thousand vacancies. Given the current conjecture, as well as the degradation of the prison’s infrastructure, the resocialization of people is increasingly far all over the country. The State of Rio Grande do Norte is passing for a restructuring of the prison’s units after the rebellions that occurred in the year of 2017 and caused several escapes and deaths in many prison’s units in the State. In this context and aiming to seek possible solutions, the present work has as objective an architectural design for an extension of the Complexo Penitenciário Dr. Mário Negócio, located in the city of Mossoró, state of Rio Grande do Norte, with emphasis in resocialization of convicted prisoners. For this purpose, were necessary bibliographic researches and many studies, as well searches of design and project references concerning of resocialization of people around the word. Through the theory of resocialization humanistic introduce in this work, following the normative and current laws for the elaboration of this project category, as well as seeking the focus of this theme through sensory architecture, were developed all the process of the proposal design. The expansion of the Complexo Penitenciário Dr. Mário Negócio were based on the possibilities of promoting spaces that allow resocialization of convicted prisoners in closed regime. The offer of work-oriented activities, education, practice of religious activities, as well as medical care access, in prison spaces, seek to improve the conditions of those who are serving time in prison, in order to try to recover and return them to society in conditions of resocialization. As result, the work has a proposal of guarded and safe spaces, that offer a less hostile and more comfortable for its occupants, mostly in thermal terms conditions, integrating them to the proposed landscaping.

  • This work of completion of professional masters consists in an architectural proposal of a mixed use building destined to a cultural space and of solidarity economy with emphasis on issues related to interventions in buildings of patrimonial value. This document is composed of a technical report and an architectural proposal at draft level. It was developed with the purpose of proposing a project of intervention in a building of patrimonial value, considering the problems related to the adaptation of this type of building to contemporary demands, such as accessibility and environmental comfort, besides the adequacy to a new use. In order to develop the architectural proposal, it was initially carried out a theoretical-conceptual deepening on the subject, through bibliographical researches and studies of project references (precedents or correlates). Next, the architectural programming was developed, with the definition of dilemmas and project goals. From this base, and with the aid of the course subjects, the project process was gradually developed and mapped, through various forms of registration in analog and digital media, from the initial stages of study of conditioners, conception and development of the architectural party. In view of the specific objectives, the work sought to study architectural strategies to provide the integration between building and environment, seeking to contribute positively to the conditions of authenticity and integrity of the building, in the light of contemporary interventionist postures, valuing the preexisting characteristics. As a result of the studies (and simulations) carried out, a proposal was reached that expanded the number of pavements in order to meet the new use, at the same time as intervening minimally in the envelope of the pre-existing building and drew guidelines regarding the surroundings. The integration was reflected in both physical and visual form, with solutions aimed at strengthening the relationship between building and environment, as well as the involvement of the community, by applying the concept of solidarity economy as a form of management centered on local workers.

  • This professional master qualification work is an architectural idea of a public building for a restaurant

    with an emphasis on thermal comfort for Juazeiro do Norte campus, which belongs to the Federal

    University of Cariri. This document consists of a technical report and architectural project. It was

    developed in order to better understand the characteristics and design a university restaurant that

    respects the bioclimatic guidelines for the region and that has a positive relationship with the

    academic community where it operates, considering the problem of buildings that do not fit the

    climate or the needs of its users, recurrently experienced in professional practice. The campus of

    the Federal University of Cariri, Juazeiro Norte is in the process of expanding demanding the

    construction of a restaurant that meets the needs of the institution and has good conditions of thermal

    comfort. To develop the architectural proposal, it was initially carried out a theoretical and conceptual

    deepening on the theme of restaurants, through bibliographic research and studies of related project

    references. Continuing, the architectural programming was developed, defining the dilemmas and

    goals of the project, layout and dimensioning of the environments. From this base, and with the help

    of course classes, the project process was gradually developed and mapped, through various forms

    of recording in analog and digital media, from the early stages of conditioning studies, conception

    and development of the architectural concept. Given its specific objectives, the work sought to study

    architectural strategies to provide thermal comfort and integrate the building with the University

    campus, thus stimulating the appropriate use of collective spaces and their socialization. As a partial

    result of functional studies, formal and comfort simulations, a preliminary proposal for a building

    compatible with the environmental conditions of the region and connected with the community

    spaces was reached.

  • This final project (professional masters) consists in the preliminary designs for four socialhousing
    (single-family) and is made up of a single volume, including a technical report and the
    architectural designs. The project is an answer to the process of expropriation of properties situated
    within the 15-meter range necessary for the duplication of Avenue Moema Tinoco, in the
    community of Gramorezinho, North Zone of Natal. Most of the impacted properties are destined
    for residential use, and some for small-sized businesses. Many expropriated families reside in
    self-constructed houses that belong to urban farms (food safety areas as per Complementary
    Law n. 82/2007) that produce organic greens, with space for reconstruction in the propriety
    itself. Lacking any government orientation to rebuild their homes through current housing programs
    or other means, and considering the low compensation and the speed with which they
    must leave their homes, this project has the goal of developing four preliminary designs for the
    new single-family homes, emphasizing two approaches: one that uses local materials and building
    techniques, and one that employs precast reinforced concrete. The theoretical-conceptual
    framework Social Housing, Technical Assistance (ATHIS, in Portuguese), self-construction and
    precasting was developed through bibliographical research. Regarding the process design, an
    iteration cycle was used, consisting in analysis (problem definition), synthesis (solution generation)
    and evaluation. The analysis included the technical reading of the design requirements,
    systematized by the Problem Seeking method, and the expansion of the architectural repertoire.
    Both sought to establish the main strategies and guidelines to respond to the design problems
    identified. The synthesis, or conception, included the definition of all the concepts, the architectural
    design, and the formal proposition, with an emphasis on technical, economic and geographical
    aspects. The evaluation of the generated solutions was conducted continuously so as
    to provide feedback into the process. The critical investigation of this phase returns to the guidelines
    and requirements established while systematizing the problems, as well as validates the
    development of the project. The project process used tactics to encourage creative thought and
    allow for the comparison and continuous evaluation of the propositions. The studies conclude
    with the validation of the technical, environmental, economic (essential for the social reach of
    the constructions) and, especially, the architectural viability of the propositions, considering the
    reduction of the quantitative and qualitative housing deficit due to the expropriations. Moreover,
    it amplifies the debate on the application of local materials and techniques, the adaptability of
    precast elements in reinforced concrete for residential use and the impact of project decisions
    on the cost of the proposed homes

  • This article consists of a design proposal for university campus residences in Mossoró city, in the state of Rio Grande do Norte. This document consists of a technical report and an architecture project. Male residences at the Universidade Federal Rural do Semiárido (UFERSA) campus were built in the 1980s. Even with recent structure repairs, these residences still keep old original aspects and continue to present issues related to thermal performance, not having leisure and socialization common areas, as well as low housing units based on nowadays demand. This project provides a solution to those identified problems by designing a new student housing through systematic planning data analysis, simulations, and solution application. To accomplish that, specific research was made based on site bioclimatic criteria, as well as theoretical studies for design definition guidelines related to temporary housing and software analysis simulation for better ventilation, sunlight, and acoustic parameters. Study results and discussions presented throughout the project provide an appropriate solution to campus housing needs according to the local climate and the possibility of meeting the current and future vacancies demand, respecting building performance requirements, proper living conditions, and contributing to project practice expansion, enriching the design methods of architects.

  • This Master’s degree final project consists of the elaboration of an architectural project of an accessible and inclusive urban leisure and spa hotel in Natal, RN with an emphasis on accessibility, universal design and bioclimatic strategies. This document consists of a technical report and architectural design. It was developed with the objective of understanding and designing a building with inclusive architectural features, in view of the growing relevance of the theme, especially regarding to legislation and appreciation of the theme and professional practice. Thus, was saw the opportunity to solve the question of how to involve accessible and inclusive architecture in a project of an Urban Leisure Hotel and Spa in the city, to be seen as a reference for the academy and in the job market. This work has as justification based on the author's professional practice and questions related to social contribution on the theme inclusion. To develop the architectural proposal, a theoretical and conceptual deepening of the theme was initially carried out through bibliographical research and studies of project references. Then, the architectural programming was developed, defining the dilemmas and goals of the project. From this basis, and with the help of the contents taught in the course subjects, the project process was gradually developed and mapped, through various forms of recording in analog and digital media, from the early stages of conditioning studies, conception and development of the architectural party. Given its specific objectives, the work sought to study architectural strategies to reconcile accessibility with an interesting plastic form, was achieved the stated goals. As a result of the studies (and simulations) carried out, a proposal has been reached that meets the principles of universal design, full accessibility, bioclimatic strategies and pleasing plastic.

  • This professional master's qualification work consists of an architectural project for a mixed-use building intended for residential, commercial and cultural spaces with an emphasis on preserving cultural heritage rail cultural heritage. This document consists of preliminary architectural projects, which are accompanied by the respective report. It was developed with the objective of elaborating an intervention proposal with a view to the reuse of a valued building and included in the Railway Cultural Heritage List, located in a central area of social interest in the city of Natal / RN, but which is in a state of disrepair. underutilization, considering the social functions of property and built heritage. The practice of real estate restoration is still a contemporary challenge because, in some situations, it is still treated in isolation, relating purely to the physical object. However, the current stances of heritage interventions reflect the concepts of integrated conservation and the preservation of the building's integrity and authenticity. In the case of buildings representing railway architecture, these concepts have wide applicability, since we deal with the conservation of physical structures of great historical and social representativeness, which need to be identified and valued in the restoration project. The issues surrounding the management of protected assets and the implications for their preservation are added to the discourse. To develop the architectural proposal, it was initially carried out a theoretical-conceptual deepening on the theme, through bibliographic research and studies of design references (precedents or correlated). Then, architectural programming was developed, with the exposure of dilemmas and definition of project goals. Based on this basis, and with the help of academic disciplines and guidelines, the design process was gradually being developed and mapped, through various forms of registration in analog and digital media, from the initial stages of studies on conditioning, design and development of the architectural party. In view of its specific objectives, the work sought to study architectural strategies for the promotion and rehabilitation of urban space through the enhancement of its architectural heritage. As a result of the studies (and simulations) carried out, an intervention proposal was reached that aims at recognizing the artistic value of industrial railway architecture, but which admits social integration as an important factor that adds cultural value.

  • This professional master qualification work consists of an architectural proposal of an inn in Serra do Lima, Patu/RN with emphasis on the principles of bioclimatic architecture and reuse and rainwater abstraction. This document, consisting of a technical report and architectural design, was developed with the objective of understanding and designing a lodge based on the bioclimatic guidelines applied to the mountainous climate in a situation: stony, arid and sloping terrain; lacking running water and sewage treatment; and distance from the urban center. Linked to this is a project aimed at exploring the local landscape potential. To develop the architectural proposal, it was initially carried out a theoretical and conceptual deepening on bioclimatic architecture and rainwater abstraction, through bibliographic research and studies of project references with the same theme. These studies also helped in the development of architectural programming to meet the demand of the delimited target audience. From this base, and with the help of the course disciplines, the design process was gradually developed and mapped, through various forms of media registration, from the early stages of conditioning studies, design and development of the architectural party. As a result of the studies and simulations carried out, a proposal was reached for a building compatible with the environmental conditions of the region.

  • This professional master's conclusion document has as its starting point the relationship between architecture and education, defining the target audience children from two to six years old. The master general objective is to elaborate the preliminary draft of a Public Institution of Childhood Education based on the understanding of the Base Curricular Comum Nacional (Common National Curricular Base - BNCC) a rule that defines the set of learnings to be developed throughout the Primary Education. In the stage of Childhood Education, the BNCC defines five learning fields to help the teacher in planning his pedagogical practice: (i) the self, the other and us; (ii) body, gestures and movements; (iii) strokes, sounds, colors and shapes; (iv) listening, speaking, thinking and imagining; (v) space, time, quantities, relationships and transformations. Considering such learning, the architectural design of a school must be developed to enhance the objectives of those fields of children's experience, being versatile, permeable and susceptible to changes due to the different activities developed. Architecture is understood as a facilitator of the relationship between the school and the local population, a dialogue that can happen through the formal composition, the care with the landscaping, the creation of living spaces, as other aspects. To delimit the architectural proposal, the following stages were done: (a) theoretical and conceptual deepening of the theme, through bibliographic research and studies of project references; (b) architectural programming, with definition of project dilemmas and goals, pre-dimensioning, definition of concept and architectural starting point; (c) development of the architectural proposal through multimethods procedures involving analog and digital ways. The main result of this work is the preliminary architectural draft of the Escola Plural (Plural School). Designed based on the tangram concept, the building lot has 22,345.38m², located in the context of a free area of the neighborhood. The built area has ... m2, to be executed with reinforced concrete structure and closures in cellular concrete. The proposal has a floor plan, sections, façades and a electronic model, accompanied by the memory of the activity and descriptive information and justifications of the main design decisions. For greater contact between the school and the community, a preliminary study is also presented for the occupation of the surrounding area.

  • This professional master's degree project consists of a preliminary design of a mixed-use building, designed to meet current urban and social dynamics, with an emphasis on the development of a contemporary architectural form, using unusual construction methods and materials in Natal. This document consists of a technical report and an architectural project. In view of the strong Brazilian real estate growth that took place in the period from 2003 to 2010, followed by the crisis that started in 2014, the central areas that have the best infrastructure in the city have been emptied. Concomitantly with the existence of stagnation and reduction in project quality, we have as a result, buildings increasingly isolated from the urban environment. It is believed that this isolation has generated several social problems, especially the increase in urban violence. As architects and urban planners, designers are important agents in the production of urban space, and reflection and analysis of the contribution to this process is essential. In this sense, seeking to foster this discourse and aiming to contribute to the improvement of the proposed buildings in the city, the general objective is to develop a preliminary project for a mixed-use building for Natal/RN, using an unconventional construction method. The specifics are: to understand the concepts of urbanity and urban vitality, relating to the context of Natal; understand the differences, similarities, advantages and disadvantages of occupying areas of the densely packed and horizontal city; seek global trends in housing, commercial and corporate projects. Methodologically, for the elaboration of the architectural proposal, it started with the theoretical-conceptual deepening on the theme through bibliographic research and studies of design references, followed by the elaboration of architectural programming, with definition of dilemmas and design goals. From this base, and with the help of the contents worked in the disciplines taken throughout the course, the projective process was gradually being developed and mapped, from the initial stages of studies of constraints, design and development of the architectural party, so that the results of the studies and simulations carried out led to a proposal considered satisfactory. It is expected that the objectives set have been achieved.

  • This professional master's degree consists of an architectural project of a building for socioeducational designed to promote the Coral Coast EPA with an emphasis on tropical bamboo architecture and its structural system. This document consists of a technical report and an architectural project. It was developed with the objective of understanding and designing a tropical building in bamboo o (Guadua angustifolia), in view of the negative environmental impact that industrialized materials (also called conventional) have on the environment and in view of the increasing emergence of seeking a more sustainable architecture and in harmony with nature. To develop the architectural proposal, a theoretical- conceptual survey was initially conducted on the subject, through bibliographic research and studies of project references (precedents and correlates, then, the architectural programming was developed, with the definition of dilemmas and project goals). From this basis, and with the help of the course disciplines, the project process was developed and mapped, through registration in analog and digital media, from the early stages of conditioning studies, conception and development of the architectural party. This work aimed to study architectural strategies to maximize the mechanical properties of bamboo and the thermal comfort in the building. As a result of the studies (and simulations), a proposal was developed that develops in pointed arches that support a large covering of natural fiber under which develops the oceanarium, which takes advantage of the conditioning cli of the region in their favor, translating the characteristics of a tropic architecture.

  • This paper presents a technical and scientific report about an architecture project for the Carrefour supermarket parking space, focused on landscape improvement and user comfort. The project appears as a solution to the problems identified in the commercial complex related to the conflict of spaces between pre-existing users and the current occupants but also to the interest of the owners for conflict resolution and the use of the landscape to create new spaces. The methodological procedures include: bibliographical research on the subject of new forms of consumption, the cultural landscape, the syntax and morphology of space; case study analysis in a direct (site visit) and indirect (correlative projects) manner; development of the concept, party and architectural programming using illustrative references, manual sketches in notebooks and also the tables provided by the disciplines of the Professional Master Course Workshop (PPAPMA / UFRN), respectively; and finally, representation of the partial result of the project on the BIM computer platform on printed boards with technical graphic material.

  • This work consists in an architectural project and a descriptive memorial for a music school with focus on flexibility and acoustics, for an institution already running in the neighborhood of Tirol, Natal/RN. The Project is justified by the raising number of students in the school and the demand for adequated spaces to the applied teaching methods, with better funcionality and acoustics. The adopted metodology of the study and the Project constitutes of bibliographic research, analysis of correlated architectural projects and case studies, in loco visits, study of the project intervention area factors and design process focusing architectural programming by the Problem Seeking method associated to others gathered in Graduate Course. The results consist in an architectural product in pre-project stage, with a description of the spatial flexibility adopted in the internal scale of the building and its stages of construction, and analysis of the acoustic comfort of the main enclosures in the requirements of sound insulation and conditioning according to technical standards.

  • This Professional Master’s Final Project consists of an architectural proposal for a residential building in co-living, aimed at students and young professionals.The coliving is a new way of living that has become a trend in great cities of the world, appearing as a very attractive option for university students and young professionals. As a result of the sharing economy and having its roots in a Danish movement of the 70's called co-housing, the co-living arises to meet the specific needs of this neglected market niche. It is necessary to be attentive to the new ways of living and to realize that before the diversity existing today it is no longer possible to satisfactorily meet all individuals reproducing the same real estate standards as always. Thus, the present work was developed with the intention of understanding how the co-living works and propose a vertical housing in its molds to attend university students and young professionals in the city of Natal. Currently the local real estate market lacks housing options developed exclusively for the public in question and the existence of a growing demand was recognized during the first surveys conducted. Firstly, a knowledge about the theme was built through direct and indirect research and with the support of the master's disciplines, the design process was gradually being constructed and mapped, aiming at more awareness and less automation, and thus, not focusing exclusively on the final product . Besides the importance of this design register, the work sought to study the resources used in the architectural project to enhance socialization in shared environments. In addition, because it is a collaborative space for people that is especially young and attentive to environmental issues, sustainable strategies have become essential tools for the commercial success of this project.

  • This work of completion of professional masters consists of an architectural proposal of modular housing with emphasis on constructive rationalization. This document is composed of a technical report and an architectural design. The objective of this work was to prepare a preliminary project for a multi-family building in Macaparana-PE, with emphasis on constructive rationalization, from the application of some design strategies in its design process, in order to reduce the waste of materials in construction and decrease the execution time of the work. In order to achieve this objective, the proposal was based on technical and constructive criteria that pointed to the possibility of adopting the modular coordination system as a tool for integration between the architectural design and the construction during the entire design process. The methodological procedures described the development and evolution of the proposal through graphic representations of sketches and diagrams, whose premises explored the formal aspects, adopt a standard module and identify the construction system best suited to the technical limitations of the local workforce, together with economic viability. Given this assumption, the following design strategies were applied: pure forms and straight lines; geometric rigor; compaction of internal spaces; streamlined masonry; standardization of openings and structural system. In this conjecture, the final result of this research sought to contribute, therefore, with solutions that can be implemented by architects and designers, who approach the theme in question applied to the design sphere.

  • This Master's Degree Conclusion Work consists of an architectural project for the reform and expansion of the Institute of the Blind of Paraíba Adalgisa Cunha (ICPAC), aimed at assisting visually impaired people, offering services in the areas of health and education. This final document is composed of the architectural design and its technical report. The focus of the proposal was the accessibility and orientation of the spaces, reverberating in its greater humanization, an issue recurrently experienced by the author in her professional practice as a civil servant of the Army. The main source of information for the design proposal was the perception of users, especially the opinion of visually impaired people, the institution's target audience. The methodology of the empirical work involved three stages: (i) Study of the Problem Question, (ii) Pre-project and (iii) Preparation of the Project Proposal. The first stage included bibliographical research, architectural survey of the building through measurements, photographs and walkthrought, and contact with users - which was inspired by the Post-Occupation Evaluation and involved the accomplishment of Poem of Desires with fifty (50) users of interviews semi structured with ten (10) key people who lived in the daily life of the place and accompanied by five (05) participants (01 blind person with knowledge of the space, 04 people who did not know: blind, with reduced vision, in a wheelchair and with reduced mobility). In the Pre-design stage, the concept and the architectural programming were defined, and previous analyzes were carried out. The development of the architectural proposal resorted to methods of constraint and typological satisfaction. The result, which meets the objectives set and incorporates the main lesson learned during the course, corresponds to a total of 5,000 m2 of constructed area that, besides accommodating an existing institutional structure, incorporates a sports park for the training of Paralympic athletes.

  • This work of conclusion of Professional Master's degree consists of a preliminary project ofrequalification of the Public Market of Jaguaribe in João Pessoa, considering the characteristicsof the free fair there. This document is composed of a technical report and an architecturaldesign. During its construction, it was possible toidentify, in the market and at the fair, thewealth of pluralities, knowledge and cultures thatresist social, political and economictransformations. Even with the lack of incentives and inspections by the competent bodies, themarket and the fair have been operating in the samespace for decades, currently presentingprecarious, inaccessible and unhealthy facilities.Considering its importance as a cultural andeconomic equilibrium element, for the development of this work, the concepts and history ofthe themes presented and studies on the perceptionof the natural and built landscape, as wellas the analysis of related correlated projects in primary and secondary sources. The project wasdeveloped, first, from the definition of the concept and the architectural party. Next, theidentification of the project dilemmas and their respective goals, considering factors such as thenumber of fixed and temporary occupants; the type of furniture and equipment required for theperformance of the activities; the relation with the conditioning factors of thermal, light andacoustic comfort, their proximity and separation; the main targets to be met; sources ofinformation; the sketches with schemes of implantation and distribution of the spaces. In thesequence, the architectural programming and the dimensioning of the environments weredefined, followed by the description of their spatial organization. Simulation of the behavior ofthe existing buildings in the intervention field and the proposal in relation to the direction andpressure of the winds were also carried out with the aid of the Flow Design software and,through the Ecotect Analysis software, the solar incidence in different periods of the year.Another important factor for the design decisions was the definition of the elements andconstructive systems, taking into account the low environmental impact and the constructiverationality. It is hoped, with this work, to present a reflection about the design process of reformand construction of buildings that shelter different activities and services in order to promotethe integration between activities and users and between buildings and their urban context.

  • This final paper for the Professional Master’s degree consists in the architectural project of environmental body IDEMA (Environment and Sustainable Development Institute)’s headquarters, in one of Rio Grande do Norte’s Nature’s Conservation Unit, in the Environmental Protection area Piquiri Una. This document consists of a technical report and an architectural project. It was motivated by the inefficiency and verified impacts in the model of architecture previously executed in existing Units, not corresponding to the sustainability and environment identity of the Institute, to which I am associated, professionally speaking. The tender focuses on low environmental impact construction, thermal and lighting comfort using passive bioclimatic strategies, energy efficiency, and the affiliation between architecture and landscape. The concept of the proposal is synergy, so that the various elements that make the local landscape, aligned with the architectural concept, work together with the purpose to reach efficiency through integration. In order to do that, the local characteristics were observed, as well as the climatic, social and landscape aspects; by means of the landscape view analysis methodology, and observed the constructive materials and public work guidelines, through the evaluation of the ambient built in the existing Ecoposto. The proposal aims to serve as a reference for the making of future architectural projects in a similar environmental preservation context, so that the body, as well as others of similar nature, increasingly incorporates sustainability in its agenda.

  • This work deals with the school theme and its relationship with the concept of inclusive architecture, focusing on the inclusive education of students with special educational needs of regular education. The objective is to prepare an architectural project for a public elementary school with inclusive education under development in this professional master's degree. The theme is justified by the historical importance of the education environment and by the diverse needs faced by this public regarding the adequacy of environments to human diversity, even though there is an evident right of everyone to the quality public education guaranteed by the legislation. The target audience has an expressive number of students enrolled in municipal schools and attended at the Municipal Support Center for Inclusion (CEMAI) of Ceará-Mirim / RN. The CEMAI was consulted and collaborated with the provision of data and reports on the needs of these students, and this material is of great importance for the design process. The universe of study is an urban lot of public domain located in this city. In order to support the development of the architectural proposal, the study of the bibliographic review of the key concepts, the guidelines of the universal design, analyzes of architectural precedents, and environmental comfort simulations with bioclimatic tools are being carried out. For this exam of qualification are presented: theoretical reference in elaboration; design and development of the proposal; version of the draft preliminary study level. The conclusion of the master's degree is expected to happen in the first half of 2018.

  • This work presents the fire safety theme aimed to heritage buildings applied to retrofit at the São Francisco Cultural Center, located at João Pessoa / PB, currently in operation, but lacking in fire safety requirements, makes it liable to great damage, including to the cultural and tourist programming of the capital in case of related accident. In these buildings the risk of fire is higher than in other buildings, given the particularities of historic buildings, which have old, deficient electrical installations and few passive and active fire protection requirements, which makes a building vulnerable also to criminal acts. Through a bibliographic, documentary and normative review, important risk analysis aspects were identified for historical heritage and the necessary requirements to improve protection and thus support the development of the proposed fire safety retrofit of the San Francisco Cultural Center, combining the conditions established in the national regulations, Fire Department and heritage protection institutions in favor of the longevity of cultural collection. Finally, design decisions were developed to adapt the building to meet the smallest possible number of interventions, combining active protection requirements with passive protection requirements.

  • The following dissertation, which fits into the theme of corporate architecture, has as its final objective the development of the Contact Center's architecture project focused on ambience and environmental comfort. The justification for the development of this project is based on research that highlights the damage that this activity causes to the health of its workers, having as causes low environmental quality and work practices. From this, we seek concepts and new ways of creating the space focused on the health, well-being and productivity of its users. Corroborated by research, the concept of ambience and its compositional items to be applied in the architectural proposal is detailed, as well as the definition and reflection on environmental comfort and ergonomics in office environments. For the development of the architectural project, several steps were taken, starting from the reference studies and the design constraints, following throughout the design process, such as the definition of the architectural party, architectural programming, preliminary proposals, application and simulation of variants of environmental comfort, until arriving at the final project presented. It is, therefore, a building located in the city of Natal / RN, consisting of 210 employees and with an area of 3047.97m² distributed on three floors. The proposal uses elements of bioclimatic architecture, ambience and biophilic design in its composition, making use of a wooded inner courtyard, the use of adjustable brise-soleils in its facades and the promotion of permeability throughout all environments. In addition, it applies a new layout for the activity of telemarketing and its work bays, based on international studies that stimulate the incorporation of natural elements in the environment and the organic distribution of furniture. In this way, the architectural proposal reaches the specified objectives, concluding that it is necessary to rethink the work practices and space design for the contact center activity in Brazil, inspired by foreign practices that stimulate the promotion of well-being to employees and consequent productivity gain.

  • This research presents reflections on the design practice of interventions in the patrimony built in Natal / RN to the Professional Master in Architecture, Design and Environment of the PPAPMA-UFRN. The study proposes a compatibilization of the preservation and conservation of the building to the demands of current uses and technologies, with the theme "Preservation and Conservation of Built Heritage". The primary objective is to design an architectural intervention in a building of historical-patrimonial value in the light of the theories on patrimony, based on the premise of the viability of a project integrated with the urban environment. To support the preliminary project, a specific bibliographic review was carried out on the subject; we have studied reference precedents with themes similar to those proposed in this research; it was necessary to characterize the building of the Student House of Rio Grande do Norte (CERN) and its immediate surroundings; there were studies in the research line of the Urban Paths for the apprehension of the landscape; and finally the elaboration of architectural programming, from the definition of the problem and the goals, to the conception of a concept and an architectural party. The proposal has as premises: the understanding of the contemporary theories of restoration and conservation, for its application in the taking of interventionist positions in front of the built patrimony; the proposition of the diversity of uses, to promote the economic viability of the Student House of Rio Grande do Norte (CERN) and the vitality in its surroundings; and the reconnection between the Potengi River, CERN and the historical center of the Upper City neighborhood, contributing to the recognition of CERN's valuation. It is hoped that this work will contribute to the professional qualification, mainly, in the decision making in intervention projects in areas and buildings of historical-patrimonial value. And broaden the discussion on the subject in academia, combining theory and practice.

  • This technical production consists of a residential housing project located in Pipa Beach, in the city of Tibau do Sul / RN, with emphasis on the modulation and flexibility of the environment, in order to adapt to different domestic groups in different phases of their lives. The main objective is create a housing model that fits different types of domestic groups present in society, and that can respond to the needs presented in the course of their lives. It is a house that has possibilities to remodel, grow, evolve and adjust according to the desires and needs of their residents. The process begins with a literature review, analyzing principles that translate constructive rationalization, and studies of project references. The development of the proposal is based on a survey of the constructive typologies of the surroundings, and on laws, standards, simulations, and criteria that guarantee well-being and comfort from the best use of natural lighting and ventilation, and an architectural programming that portrays the various uses that can be performed in each of the environments of a residence. The product consists of seven types of housing units, with formats that depart from a standard nuclear model, and is modified by the users' subsequent needs.

  • The expansion of the Federal Network of Vocational and Technological Education, begun in 2008, with the creation of the Federal Institutes, among which the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Paraíba (IFPB), provided a great growth for these institutions. In its third phase, which began in 2012, it planned to build six new campuses in Paraíba, including the Guarabira campus. Initially, only the blocks essential for the operation of the institution were built, due to budget constraints, so even after opening the campus Guarabira does not have several of the buildings planned in its implementation, among them the Auditorium. In addition, the concern with sustainability and energy efficiency has been increasingly present in Federal Public Administration projects, including guidelines on the adoption of sustainable criteria in projects and works, as well as in the elaboration of projects aimed at National Energy Conservation Label (ENCE) class A. The objective of this work was to elaborate the project of an Auditorium for the IFPB campus in Guarabira that would meet the criteria of natural lighting and ventilation, energy efficiency and acoustic performance suitable for its use. In addition, the project sought to meet four premises: take advantage of the topography of the land, creating an area of coexistence on the first floor and maintaining the relationship of the building with the immediate surroundings; study the location of the building on the ground in order to attenuate the noise and to take advantage of natural lighting and ventilation; to seek a form of edification that maintains a direct relationship with its activity, attend to the acoustic and visual conditions and provide flexibility to the space; and adopt an envelop that responds to acoustic, thermal, lighting and energy issues. For that, a bibliographical research was carried out in the areas of architectural acoustics, bioclimatic architecture, thermal and visual comfort and energy efficiency; previous project studies and legal and project site constraints; acoustic mapping of the terrain, mock-up; simulations of solar geometry, shading, air pressure and illuminance study; as well as calculations for verifying reverberation time, sound insulation of the walls, air ventilation and renewal rate and energy efficiency. Resulting in a project that provides the environmental comfort to the users with efficiency in the use of energy resources, besides being in harmony with the environment and formally meeting the criteria proposed in the research.

  • It is a technical project and a descriptive and justifiable memorial is to propose a residential for institutionalized elderly in the Seridó region of Rio Grande do Norte, a proposal that can provide residents with a healthy and successful aging. To do so, we sought to use concepts of bioclimatic and regional architecture, the parameters of the ambience, the sense of urbanity and habitability. It is also a reflection of how the simple application of norms in this type of equipment of attention to the elderly, does not guarantee an adequate project its physical-psychological requirements. The technical project was developed at the preliminary design level, based on an interdisciplinary literature review covering general considerations about aging, long-term institutions in Brazil, environment for healthy aging, accessibility and universal design, docility and proactivity of the environment. A study of architectural precedents, the compilation of ambience and humanization parameters for collective housing design, the use of the Spatial Syntax Depth Map tool to test the privacy of housing units and the best deployment configuration were also carried out promote greater visual integration, and guidelines for a low environmental impact project. The residential will be a long-term institution for dependent and independent elderly people who need assistance and specialized care and who require control and adequate follow-up of health professionals, with a capacity for a maximum of 32 elderly people.

  • The present work was based on the production of a project for a Care Unit in the city of Natal / RN. The proposal was based on a constructive system concerned with the reduction of waste and mitigation of the environmental impact caused by the building. To achieve this objective, the system appropriated bioclimatic criteria to promote better use of the conditions of the place and the rationalization of construction processes through tectonics and modulation. Among the applied methodologies were developed theoretical-methodological-referential studies on the subject, which allowed to establish project directives, such as: the development of the building on stilts, respecting, thus, the natural profile of the terrain; the insertion of a central courtyard as a way to favor the ventilation and natural lighting of the surroundings; and the application of a permeable envelope as a protective barrier of the building. The studies developed and the discussions presented promoted an awakening to issues that are usually forgotten in the practice of professional practice, enriching the project methods present in the daily life of architectural offices, thus favoring the relationship between the individual and the environment and demonstrating a concern with natural resources applied in construction.

  • Brazil, just as the world is becoming more urban and less rural every day. At the same time, there is a growing process of emptying of the public areas of cities in Brazil, caused by, among other factors, the lack of an architecture that promotes the connection between public and private domain spaces (a concept related to urban vitality and the identification of the other person at city). Based on contemporary Spatial Syntax Theory and others contemporary urban theorist, it is argued here that morphology and density, as well the urban configuration, have effects on the performance of the building as an inducing element of urbanity, urban vitality – key concepts . The research is justified by the perception that is necessary   projects that promote urbanity and urban vitality in urban centers. This work presents the research and design stages of an architecture project of a mixed use building in an open court, in a block at Natal / RN, at neighborhood of Cidade Alta. To assist in the development of the architectural proposal, the bibliographical review of references related to key concepts(density, urbanity, open court buildings, parameterization)  was carried out; The identification of its attributes in examples of mixed use buildings; And the application of these concepts to the design of the project. In the course of the research, spatial syntax tools have also been used to simulate accessibility and visibility properties that associated with such concepts and support the design proposal.By the same time, the use of parametric tools such as BIM technology and algorithm development were used to aid design decision making. The result shows that with the proper theoretical and scientific basis, it is possible to design an building  with high density and that promotes urban vitality of its surroundings.

  • The Djalma Marinho Living Center (CCDM) was built in the 1980s at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) as a place for integration and development of student’s activities. Almost forty years have passed and we have witnessed the transformation of its space to serve a different purpose of its original design. Instead of an inviting and friendly place, what is found is a shelter for facilities and provision of services, mostly dominated by financial and assistance institutions, post office, food businesses, among others. An opportunity for revision of this context arose in the academic scope through the Professional Master of the Program of Post-Graduation in Architecture, Design and Environment of UFRN (PPAPMA). This work presents the premises, procedures and results that make up the developing process of a CCDM architectural requalification design which seeks to promote its potential as a meeting place and a contributor for the integration of the university community. Its scope is structured as follows: methodological aspects; definition of the design problem; conceptualisation; predicting; and design report. The methodological aspects present the foundations for the conjecture-test model adopted as a theoretical reference for the design process. In the definition of the design problem, a set of demands and constraints that defined the context for decision making is developed. In the section called conceptualisation, the operations and efforts performed in the identification of the central idea of the project are presented. In predicting, the design is reviewed in light of the analytical theory adopted as conceptual reference for the project. In the design report, the main aspects that make up the final result are approached: functional and spatial organization; accessing, moving and assembly, as well as a description of the other technical and constructive aspects. This writing is accompanied by a volume comprising the graphical documentation of the project, layed out in twelve sheets.

  • This research developed in the Professional Master in Architecture, Design and Environment PPGAU-UFRN, studies space accessibility in areas and buildings of the Historical center of Natal-RN, aiming at a preliminary architectural design that allows the access and use of buildings in areas of historical value, considering the particularities inherent in this type of intervention. In order to subsidize the preliminary project, using the methodology of the urban routes and the analysis of the framework legislation on space and urban accessibility in the area. The proposal goals the pedestrian priority, restriction of vehicle and integration spaces and historic buildings, converging towards the universal design of roads allowing the deserved appreciation of the area by the pedestrian. Following the approach of the current interventionist practices in the light of the classical theory of restoration and attributes of authenticity and integrity, the proposal includes a specific intervention in Conceição street’s buildings – the Sobradinho and IPHAN – contemplating, in addition to accessibility, the potential of using cultural demand in the area, through the creation of a building annexed to the two buildings, allowing the sharing of accesses and uses, integrating them to the historical center.

  • The change of pace of urban activity has been changing the microclimate of large urban centers - higher average temperatures, modification of rainfall regimes, and problems related to urban noise, which has worsened, causing serious disruption to the population. It contributes with this variation in the microclimate, the verticalization of the city, although it is the solution found to solve the problems of the population of people living in it, since it has promoted the development of constructive techniques that guarantee more agility in construction time and lower costs. Factors, which often reflect in the performance and quality of buildings, in addition to interference in the urban scale. Since 2013, residential buildings in Brazil, due to the publication of Performance Standard NBR 15.575 / 2013, should be planned to meet various requirements and criteria, including the environmental performance - thermal, acoustic and lighting - of the building. In view of this context, it is intended to develop a multifamily housing project, to harmonize the technical requirements for environmental comfort (thermal, acoustic and lighting) of Performance Standard NBR 15.575 / 2013.

  • This dissertation describes the design and development of an architecture project for a mixed use building (multifamily and commercial residential), with application of bioclimatic principles of environmental comfort for the city of Natal / RN and emphasis on the elaboration of flexible enclosures. It is based, initially, on bibliographical research, aiming to broaden the understanding about mixed-use buildings, environmental comfort and flexibility applied to architecture, mainly from Kronenburg (2007) and Jorge (2012). The concept of flexibility is treated as a possible response to the functional and formal demands intended for the project. In this sense, by creating an analogy with the vegetable cell, the creation of a "second skin" with manageable structures functions as a filter, solving issues pertinent to promoting environmental comfort - such as shading and permeability of ventilation - as well as privacy. From the formal point of view, this solution also gives the building characteristics such as dynamism and flexibility. The empirical research was based on the analysis of the conditions of the site - physical / environmental aspects and urban prescriptions – and studies of direct and indirect references, which subsidized the definition of programming, the architectural party and environmental comfort strategies. The architectural proposal is accompanied by a memorial that contains the description and justification of the design solutions adopted, especially regarding the use of flexible envelopes in the building.

  • Water scarcity is one of the global problems that can affect human survival. Building with conservation systems is going to provide a decrease in water's demand for sanitation companies. The need to use rain water and the conservation of drinking water is more urgent in hot dry regions, where it is less available. The quality of the built environment is not only related to the water availability and the comfort for users should be designed from the environmental point of view, by the knowledge of the climate and the principles favorable to it. This paper aims to develop an architectural proposal for a horizontal multi-family housing in the city of Currais Novos, RN, using water conservation strategies, rainwater harvesting and bioclimatic strategies for the hot dry climate. The procedures are organized in five steps: (i) data collection; (ii) data analysis; (iii) development of the proposal; (iv) capacity of the system; (v) writing and drawing the technical details. After the simulation of rainwater harvesting systems, it was possible to reduce significantly the consumption of drinking water using two measures: the reduction of consumption at the source and the utilization of an alternative source of water.

  • This dissertation reports the theoretical, methodological and programmatic route for the architectural proposal of an assisted housing for the elderly, using the guidelines of the Selo Casa Azul Caixa, located in the central district of the municipality of Eusébio, metropolitan region of Fortaleza, capital of the State of Ceará. The target audience of the venture are elderly people who reach the third age with health, lucidity and autonomy to carry out the daily activities. The research sought to answer the following question: how an architectural project of an assisted living for the elderly can meet individual and collective needs, adopting guidelines of the Selo Casa Azul Caixa and following the principles of Cohousing, seeking an improvement in the quality of life of the residents? The methodological procedures were focused in four phases: 1st: Study of the theoretical and conceptual referential and design constraints, providing the theoretical basis for the research; 2nd: Recognition of the spatial needs of the elderly. This stage sought to get to know the users and to understand their habits and preferences; 3rd: Study of the project references. The study of architectural precedents highlighted the characteristics of projects and buildings with potential to contribute to the development of the architectural proposal of this research; 4th: Preparation of the draft. This stage was characterized by the elaboration of the architectural proposal in which studies of environmental comfort and spatial syntax were carried out with the objective of providing urban and architectural quality. The final project proposal of an assisted living for the elderly includes a private area, related to the condominium, and a public area, available to the community, composed of a square, leisure equipment and commercial stores.

  • This study investigated design alternatives, with potential to increase energy efficiency and comfort levels in apartments, part of the federal government's Minha Casa Minha Vida program. The proposal was developed for the city of Mossoró-RN, whose climatic characteristics vary from hot to dry and hot and humid throughout the year. The design method included in the theoretical framework a study on the quality of life in vertical condominiums and the level of interaction among residents promoted by the leisure area. The analysis of the climatic zoning of the city was developed to identify suitable bioclimatic strategies, to detect the relationship between the form of the building, the orientation and its energy efficiency and to study the parameters of performance analysis applied by the RTQ-R. The gathering of these factors guided the choice of the architectural precedents in the direction of the strategies that were used in the proposal. Architectural programming was used to define project goals, to anticipate problems and propose solutions. The project elaboration followed the recommendations of the programming stage and its performance was evaluated through the labeling and simulation processes until ENCE A was reached. The results identified the best combination of the proposed materials and revealed the weight of the strategies adopted in the project. They also verified the efficiency of the interaction between the design and simulation methods, as well as the financial viability of the Project.

  • Sustainability has gained strength and has driven several studies in the most varied areas, be it architecture, environment, education, economics or public administration. The paper addresses issues related to the development and revenue of sustainability issues in single family homes, specifically the use of renewable natural resources, environmental comfort concerns and energy efficiency in the process and reduction of wastage of materials during construction of the building. The present work aims to elaborate a project of a sustainable single family dwelling in condominium of high standard, in hot and humid climates, with a maximum efficiency of the renewable resources, with a capture of solar energy and rainwater, besides the use of a Modulation and frames that allow a permeability of the winds and the direct solar radiation with control of the user during the periods of summer and winter. During the studies, the concept of hive was used, through its modalities, rationalization, and appropriation of space, adapting to one of the structures that shows great balance in nature, since it is sustainable without conflicts between spaces.   • This work presents the opportunity to point out guidelines for the design of an Institutional Host Unit in Natal city, focusing on the space humanization, expressed by the “House to home” term, as it is an important governmental program to strengthen family and community ties for the well-being of its users, children and teenagers in social vulnerability state. Aiming the conception of a qualified architectural space for its users, three interventional aspects in the developed proposal were determined: space flexibility, thermoacoustic comfort criteria and indoor-outdoor integration. We know that to achieve a humanized space, different aspects must be analyzed, but due to time limitation and to this work in particular, only the three criteria specified above will be addressed. This paper structure is organized into six sections, in which we can approach the theoretical-conceptual framework: Humanized Architecture; indirect reference project designs; the concept; the analysis of the environment, legal and regulatory constraints; and the adopted concept. Finishing this paper, we report the design of the draft level and some final remarks. For the conception of the displayed product, volumetric studies have been developed aiming to meet the needs of program and the resulting conditions of environmental analysis. The choice of building system, closures and coverage are under definition as well as the improvement of the formal composition.

  • This study addresses building requalification focusing on the envelope’s energy efficiency. The work proposes a requalification for Centro de Convivência Djalma Marinho’s building, located in UFRN’s main campus in Natal/RN, through the following guidelines and methodologies: literature review, post-occupancy evaluation of a built environment, thermal comfort analysis in the original building and a new architectural programming proposal for the space. By applying passive bioclimatic strategies, as recommended for Brazilian Bioclimatic Zone 08, the intention is reducing heat transfer from the external environment to the internal environment, improving thermal comfort for users and reducing energy consumption. The presented actions aim an enhancement of the building envelope’s energy and thermal performances, to obtain the Etiqueta Nacional de Eficiência Energética da Edificação (PROCEL), rationalize materials and resources, and offer the academic community a space with better environmental quality. As a hypothesis, it is believed that in preliminary design stages, by the moment of its conception and planning, decision-making considerably impacts the building’s environmental performance and energy consumption.

  • Starting with the understanding of the juvenile offender status (age range 12-18 years) in conflict with the law and that needs to be kept under conditions of freedom deprivation, this work proposes to develop an architectural blueprint for a Centre of Education (CEDUC) to house young males. In addition to meeting the standards for this type of project, it is understood that the proposal should provide balance between ensuring safety and promoting social rehabilitation of the young offenders, comprising essential elements for the building to be built aesthetically and functionally as to be appropriate for the institution it will serve. Therefore, the Humanization and Environmental Comfort are keywords and the proposal should allow, as the time served progresses within the institution and provided they have good behavior, the young offender should experience the feeling of greater freedom/responsibility/trust. The working method adopted involved studying the literature, conducting direct and indirect references studies of buildings, detailed architectural program, study of the land and preparation of a preliminary study based on functional analysis and the preparation of design models. The proposal for the building complex was based on the concept of a spiral and focused on the idea of a humanized home, organized around a central square as a way to integrate all areas. The proposed complex will be built in a land with 10,211.75 m2, and consists of fourteen (14) ground floor buildings to be executed in concrete and covered in ceramic tile, totaling approximately 3581.29 m2 of built area. This work presents the Architectonical design, reinforcing the process developed.

  • This work reports the research and conception stages of an architectural design for a building with music and dance venues containing a multipurpose presentation room developed with acoustic and visual parameters. It is justified because the use of acoustic and visual guidelines in a Concert Hall provides a satisfactory comfort level for both artists and the public. Based on acoustic conditioning studies of those spaces, it is argued that the insertion of acoustic and visual design guidelines at the beginning of the design process for these rooms will minimize future problems during the development of the specific project done by a professional expert in acoustics. To support the development of the proposal, a bibliographical review was made to identify design guidelines that favor acoustic conditioning and visibility in presentation rooms being applied during the conception of the project. During the research, simulations were performed in acoustic software to validate the proposed solutions.

  • Cities such as Natal / RN have an enormous potential for natural ventilation, which, if well utilized by the architectural design, can accelerate the number of thermal changes inside the environments, thus contributing to a better air quality. Therefore, the following work deals with the architectural design of a new outpatient clinic for the Onofre Lopes University Hospital, with emphasis on the application of passive strategies of cross ventilation with the aim of providing environments with a number of air changes within the established standards for the hospital architecture. The object of study will be the verification of the flow and rate of air renewal inside the waiting room, clinic and mechanotherapy environments, considering these with and without cross ventilation. For the calculation of the wind velocities it was used a spreadsheet obtained from the Environmental Comfort Laboratory of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte and the shading studies, through of the Solar Tool Program and ECOTEC developed by Autodesk. Already the calculations of flow and air changes were made by the student himself through the formulas obtained in the current literature and recorded in memories of calculations attached to the work. The building has a built area of 30,377.97m², distributed over 10 floors, one ground floor plus six floors and three basements, to be built in area 01 of the Biomedical Health Campus, located in the Petropolis District. The adoption of the architectural party took into account a series of constraints such as terrain topography, direction of prevailing winds, solar trajectory and air velocity, in addition to those of normative order, especially RDC-50 and NBR-15220. The results show that the adoption of shads in the roof to capture the outside air and direct them to ventilation ducts is an efficient strategy to allow a good rate of air renewal through cross ventilation as well as adequate shading of the openings. In this way, the conditions are created to minimize the consumption of air conditioning and therefore produce a more energy efficient architecture.

  • This paper proposes to demonstrate the ideal parameters to be followed in architectural design of institutional buildings for offices, with environmental quality, this quality is aimed at contributing to better comfort conditions for users of this type of space and, consequently, also improve The productivity of labor developed by them. Thus, it was decided to develop an architectural proposal for a Headquarters Building of the Attorney General's Office for the city of Campina Grande / PB, whose choice is justified by the growing increase in civil construction, influenced by the growth of the city. For its development, reference studies were used on institutional buildings of the office type with current solutions and focused on comfort in the environment. In addition to the reference studies, the different spatial arrangements in this building typology (based on organizational structures), as well as analysis of local climatic factors, were also analyzed, seeking better bioclimatic strategies for the proposed building. Another methodological tool adopted for the construction of this dissertation was the construction of the architectural programming through a table of needs crossing the needs, the comfort strategies and the proposed sectoral spaces. The proposed project was also supported by solutions that allow the use of spatial space flexibility, since this type of use suffers constant change, either by simple changes or by alteration of spatial arrangement, based on administrative theories.

  • This work involves recent research that raise technical requirements to design single family homes to a high standard, providing a specific sustainable gap to absorb, understand and enter some of these complementary concepts to traditional ways of live, here being highlighted as something that happened the act to design and build. The emergence of a demand for a project to be made in the city of Serra de São Bento, 130 km from Natal, Brazil brought the author the opportunity to enter a more focused look at environmental issues related to a work of this nature, making it take the owners a more thorough debate on the formation of values needs program and understanding the place to be designed. The arid terrain, sloping, rocky and far from the urban center, required a proposal adapted to the site, with unconventional, lighter and less craft materials that mitigate the impact of a residence on one half and on its future water consumption and electricity. Baptized House Camel, the proposal emphasizes the full self-sufficiency in the face of local utilities of these two inputs, either through rainwater capture alternative water reuse or for renewable generation of wind or photovoltaics, and to adopt a solution that takes into account bioclimatic strategies suggested the microclimate studied so that passively, we could achieve satisfaction with the thermal and acoustic comfort of the project.

  • In the last years, the housing policy in the country has been characterized by an intervention model marked by questionable architectural and urban quality of social housing, especially, when directed to low-income populations. Since the launch of the program named “Minha Casa Minha Vida”- PMCMV in 2009, the main criticism to this model housing program are, especially, regarding to the solutions presented in projects developed for social housing, since it does not consider the needs of several user profiles, neither consider the changes in family structure that have occurred over time. How to develop projects for social housing that attend programmatic needs and dynamics of different types of users? Therefore, this work adresses the issue of social housing architecture, and aims the development of a social housing project, using flexible strategies, presenting as study universe the neighborhood named “Mãe Luiza” located in the city of Natal / RN. For such purpose, a literature survey was made addressing the concept of flexibility applied to social housing project as a way to build a theoretical background on the subject; development of reference studies of housing projects that use strategies and construction techniques applied to programmatic and functional flexibility of the building; identify the profile and demands of users served by PMCMV through the SEHARPE database; analysis of projective conditions necessary for the preparation of the architectural proposal; and the development of different housing typologies and types of flexibility strategies related to collectivity and sociability spaces.

  • This paper describes the design process of a Residential Building Vertical Collective to be located in the neighborhood of Capim Macio, Natal / RN and is based on a projective methodology that reflects the conduct of a professional who works in the market for 35 years. It displays the definition of the formal setting of a residential building project with a building volumetry is inspiring visually on top of a tree and marked by a ribbed texture steel. Suggests steel as the best application option in the aesthetic advantage of the most notable element in the volume set - A Housing Unit - symbolizing a sheet. This intension of architectural ideation exposes a desire to escape the prevailing aesthetic standards in the local market of residential building architecture, both in formal design as the construction methods, making this experimental daring intense exercise to expand the training of border and professional competence. To justify the application of steel and its relevance as best constructive option will briefly present their conceptual development of the project. Widely used in construction, it is shown as may be present in part of the works or as the main material. The building system using the Steel allows freedom in architectural design, larger floor space, flexibility, compatibility with other materials, reduced lead time, rationalization of materials and labor, work load relief in the foundations, quality assurance, greater organization in construction sites and constructive precision. The choice of the most appropriate material for the manufacture of UH (Housing Unit) is closely linked to the constructive process considered more appropriate. Given the peculiarities of the project, unconventional, the Modular Building System proved to be the most efficient in terms of productivity.

  • With the increase in demand for places in University Residences, after the accession of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) to REUNI (Plan of Restructuring and Expansion of Federal Universities), the need to think about a proposal that meets the various demands of students and residents that could be built more quickly and adapted to the climate of the place. During the studies, the flexibility of concepts, permeability and interactivity emerged as responses to the problem. The flexibility in the architectural design architecture is a strategy that has been used to achieve a more sustainable architecture. According to literature, flexible spaces and uses, reflecting a longer life cycle of the building, thus avoiding future waste and generating savings. Initially, through specific literature, references studies and application evaluation Postoccupation, with a sample of the current residents in existing buildings, the program needs to set up taking into account the demands of necessary services, in addition to the bedrooms, standard and affordable. The analysis of the questionnaires, was crossed with the general and specific objectives, the study references and concepts generating the needs program, the matrix of interaction between environments and an organization chart. At this stage it was used as a condition for the preliminary study, the bioclimatic zoning for the study object city and town planning requirements of the site and the campus of UFRN.   • This thesis intends to discuss the meaning of the bioclimatic aspects and the principles of the landscape architecture applied to the architectural project, intending to demonstrate the efficacy of the passive resources in the getting of the thermal and luminous comfort. Answering to the concerning, it proposes a community center architectural blueprint, situated in the Lagoa Azul neighborhood, Natal. In this place, stands out as a social interest area, in which stands a community called “Sítios de Gramorezinho”, composed by small farmers, which develops the organic horticulture. They are represent by an association called “Amigo Verde” that deals with and sell the local production. The building intends to be a place to exchange experiences and strengthen social ties, while developing the collective activities and processing the vegetables. Considering that the area is an environment preservation area, with strong scenic and landscaping potential, the enhancement of the nature and cultural aspects was a constant concerning. In this context, it was used the “Arquitetura com cheiro de mato” concept, intending to reinforce the relationship between men, the environment, and his affective memories, connected to the natural elements. Intending to apply the bioclimatic and landscape aspects as conditionals to the architectural project, had been made theoretical – methodological – referential studies about the theme, so that was possible establish a link to the original concept, in what concern to decide about project decisions. Therefore, it were chosen, low environment impact constructive systems, whom promote the thermal and luminous comfort, just like the adobe and the wood, besides the using of the vegetation as bioclimatic strategy. It is hoped that the use of this constructive points may influence another projects and became more adequate solutions to the place, generating a better quality of community life and the preservation of the environment.

  • This thesis addresses about topics related to school and its relationship with the designed space, and its emphasis on bioclimatic architecture and flexibility, applied in a draft of children’s education and fundamental unit school on a land in the city of Parnamirim / RN. It is a thought based on how the architecture of school buildings can transmit teachings, as well as dialogue with the educational project and to provide better performance about comfort from compliance with the local climate conditions, in our case, the Bioclimatic Zone 08. The development of the draft was based on a review of issues related to school, bioclimatic architecture and flexibility, as well as reference studies in school buildings projects. The proposal development process has a description of its stages, from the analysis of projective conditions, through the architectural, the definition of the concept of the project and preliminary studies. The school’s target audience is children aged four to ten years and has seven classrooms and can serve 160 students per shift. The projected area has 1.943,37m² which is located on the ground floor in an area with 6.141,99m². In order to check the efficiency of the building as the environmental comfort, we chosen the classroom for simulations and evaluations of natural ventilation, shading and daylighting, for which spreadsheets and computational tools were used. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the solutions presented in the proposal, given the goal indicated in the architectural programming.

  • This dissertation is about flexibility applied to floorplan and layout design for a vertical multi-family residential building, which is presented here in its draft design stage. The project adopts the concept of open architecture, and it was conceived to a lot located in the Petrópolis neighborhood, within the high density zone of the city of Natal-RN. As an outcome, it is presented a proposal for a residential building, whose units may have its layouts set in accordance with the dwellers' needs. Such layouts can also be reconfigured in order to meet changing requirements over time.The development of the project, initially, consists of setting the theoretical framework on flexibility, as well as on environmental comfort. Architectural designs on the same theme as the design for this dissertation will be presented as references, and the solutions intended to adapt their residential units to various internal configurations will be identified and analyzed. The process for designing the architectural draft advances from the survey on both legal constraints imposed on the urban lot and recommendations on good performance for achieving environmental comfort. As a result, a design that allows a wide possibility of internal reconfigurations is presented, which may have its internal layout changed throughout the entire lifespan of the building.

  • The present research seeks to highlight and contribute to emphasizing urban quality through the city spatial development. The work is a preliminary study for the architectural project for the place called Cais da Memória (Memory Pier), an intermodal cultural complex, located in the banks of the Potengi River, between the city of Natal’s historic center, the monument called Pedra do Rosário, and the community known as AEIS Passo da Pátria, a region of great symbolic and historical value to the city of Natal.The project aims to become a vehicle for the city of Natal’s territorial occupation by land, water, and air, in addition to promote a sense of ownership by the population through a cognitive and sensorial recognition of its geomorphology, history, and memory.The concept of the project calls attention to: 1) The study of references about the main theme of the project such as legal and bioclimatic strategies, tectonic, and architectural composition; 2) Spatial integration through an intermodal network of a public transportation system; 3) The connection between public and private spaces; 4) The configuration of phenomenological spaces; 5) The inclusion of an architectural object in a place of affective significance to the city and its communities.Using these five topics as a method and conceptual tool, the project redesigns and embraces the center of the city urbanity in order to promote encounters, relationships, accessibility, visual and spatial transparencies, permeability, and use them as a revitalization strategy, renewal and redevelopment through urban design and building occupation. Strategically the project establishes an open, visual and spatial integrated architectural model to its surroundings, as opposed to the logic of the segregated models imposed by the real state. The complex aims to become part of the affective dimension of Natal´s population through the intervention and appropriation of a neglected urban context filled with spatial and social segregation, by treating the River waterfront with the same treatment to the oceanic front.Through an architecturally perspective, the project addresses the importance to consider the characteristics of the urban area with its equipment, facilities, and design solutions as a fundamental element to guide and spark the creation of the tectonic and spaces within the project design. The result is a massive body in wood and steel, supported by a portico, which advances over the railway line and the riverbed from which also extend a viaduct and a platform that connect the segregated parts of the urban fabric. In this way, the research contributed to the improvement of architecture solutions for buildings with urban significance and cultural uses, with solutions that embrace and redesign the existing urban network and establish a possible profile that public space should have in order to allow the development of a healthier urban context through the meeting, sociability, and appropriation of the space.

  • Number of cesarean section in Brazil exceeds World Health Organization’s recommendation. To stimulate preference for natural childbirth, Brazilian Ministry of Health, among other measures, has encouraged improvement of buildings for obstetric and neonatal care services. These improvements prioritize user privacy and hospitality, aiming at humanizing care. In this context, the Peri-hospital Birth Center (PBC) has emerged as an establishment to perform natural childbirth, functionally linked to a reference hospital. This study aims at developing an architectural design of a PBC, able to adapt to different implantation and population contexts, emphasizing humanization and environmental comfort aspects. This project is intended to municipalities located in the coastal region of the state of Rio Grande do Norte, inserted in bioclimatic zone 8 (Z8). This work includes theoretical and methodological framework, addressing issues related to humanization, environmental comfort and adoption of model projects. It also presents empirical reference, studies of buildings used as reference to this proposal. Moreover, design concept, architectural programming, pre-sizing and architectural party are described in the architectural proposal preparation. Finally, it shows the evolution of the architectural proposal, which proposes a minimum unit with possibility of expansion to future demands. This proposal is also capable of deployment on land with different orientations, preserving the environmental conditions of comfort for users. The minimum unit, with 846,06m2, has 03 PPP rooms and 02 wards with shared accommodation. The activities are supported by minor administrative technical and logistical units. The minimum lot suggested for implementation is 48m x 60m, and accommodates the expansion of the unit to 1005,59m2 with 05 PPP rooms and 03 wards of shared accommodation. The group of rooms in different blocks allows the variation of its position in search of the best orientation conditions in relation to solar geometry and natural ventilation.

  • This dissertation addresses the matter of flexibility within the production of social interest
    housing type apartment in the city of Parnamirim, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. The starting
    point is as reference of local production within the program “Minha Casa Minha Vida”
    (PMCMV) for families in the range from 0 to 3 minimum wages. The developed proposal
    aims to create a project alternative that allows the expansion of apartment type units and a
    better adaptation of buildings to the local climate, in order to promote an increase
    architectural quality and environmental comfort for users. For the progress of the work, we
    consider understand the specifics of the local production of the program through the
    literature review on the criticism of PMCMV and evaluation of the projects by a
    questionnaire to residents as a tool for defining the architectural programming. Still, in
    addition to literature review on the flexibility of the theme applied to architecture with
    emphasis on expansion strategies, the work pursued the study of architectural precedents
    that could contribute to design solutions. Then select the area to development of
    architectural proposal and projective conditions were raised that focus on the lot, such as
    legislation and bioclimatic aspects. The definition of the proposal aimed to incorporate the
    revised and programmed aspects considering the technical-constructive and financial reality
    site as well as a deployment that would allow smooth flowing relationship with the
    surroundings. The final proposal presents a better architectural advantage to the local
    climate; housing units with an area of variations to better serve diverse profiles of
    beneficiaries and with the possibility of planned expansion, which enables the beneficiary, is
    staying longer in the property.

  • The architecture of the construction site - with regard to the design of its buildings and layout, considering environmental comfort and sustainability aspects, up to its own implementation -, is overlooked during the construction of buildings in Brazil. From an architectural point of view, such disregard of the building site, whose design is solely defined by civil engineering, is important to be assessed, as it is revealing of human needs, beyond the physical and economic aspects of the sheds. Currently, the use of the containers as part of a building system is presented as an alternative for physical and economical reasons related to sustainability, being increasingly used as an option in site works. The purpose of this dissertation is to develop an architectural design for a construction site with the use of containers in order to provide environmental comfort to its users. The architectural proposal relies on re-used and adapted shipping containers (focusing on the promotion of environmental comfort) to support the construction of an enterprise with approximately 52.500,00m², to be built in the high-density zone of the city of Natal / RN. The design method’s stages include a review of the literature on buildings and layouts used in construction activities, besides reviewing themes of environmental comfort, sustainable development and bioclimatic architecture. Also, data gathered during visits to building sites in Brazil and in the United States; analysis of design conditions; the design concepts; study of the design problem (the architectural programming and the preliminary design); as well as the adaptation requirements for the constructive system in order to define architecture, are presented as part of the design method’s stages. The evolution of the design process made possible to define five environmental comfort adaptations for the container, which were validated through technical simulations and calculations, besides setting the cost of these changes to the reuse of the "metal box". Architecture then regains the command of the idealization of the construction site, using disciplines of its field of knowledge, considering aspects of cost and promoting environmental comfort to the construction workers.

  • This dissertation presents the research and design stages for an architectural project of a commercial building, comprising both retail and offices, whose configuration fosters its relationship with the public realm. Its approach focus on the attributes of urbanity – a concept intrinsically related to urban vitality and the recognition of the other in the city space. The research is justified by the perception that the design of many commercial buildings of our cities promotes the disconnection between public and private spaces, having a negative impact not only in the economic activities of the commercial development, but also potentially leading to the emptiness of the urban environment. Based on the space syntax theoretical approach, this paper argues that the built form, as well as the urban configuration, exerts effects on patterns of urbanity, urban vitality and co-presence - key concepts to be explored in this dissertation. To assist in the development of the architectural proposal, a review of the literature on both direct and indirect references related to the key concepts was carried out, followed by an identification of such attributes in building complexes of similar use to the object of study, leading to the application of these concepts to the design. Space syntax tools were also applied in the research process in order to simulate accessibility and visibility properties that associate such concepts and ground the design proposal. The universe of study is an urban lot located in the Lagoa Nova neighborhood, Natal-RN.

    Com a pretensão de se estudar e desenvolver o processo de projeto com base em uma metodologia específica apresenta-se, como objeto deste trabalho, o projeto de um condomínio de casas na cidade de Natal a partir da aplicação de princípios da gramática da forma, utilizados em seu processo de concepção. A gramática da forma é um método de projeto desenvolvido na década de 1970 por George Stiny e James Gips, utilizado tanto para a análise como para a síntese de projetos, com o objetivo de se criar um “vocabulário formal”, através de operações matemáticas e/ou geométricas. Aqui, a metodologia foi utilizada no processo de síntese de projeto, numa relação entre subtrações formais e a programação arquitetônica das casas. Como resultado, chegou-se à proposição de cinco configurações de unidades habitacionais, diferentes entre si no tocante à forma e à programação arquitetônica, distribuídas em três grupos geminados, que se repetem até o total final de nove volumes arquitetônicos. Além dos estudos de ventilação do condomínio e das simulações de sombreamento das edificações, foram realizados estudos de flexibilidade espacial e de desempenho acústico. Um dos objetivos específicos da dissertação, o mapeamento do processo de projeto, foi composto não só pelo registro dos condicionantes formais (elaboração e aplicação de regras), mas também por aspectos físicos, ambientais, legais e de sustentabilidade no que se refere, por um lado, à otimização do sombreamento e da ventilação passiva para climas quente-úmidos e, por outro, à modulação e à racionalização da construção.

    O seguinte trabalho apresenta como tema a segurança contra incêndio aplicada a uma edificação de interesse histórico, sendo proposto o anteprojeto arquitetônico de reuso do antigo Grupo Escolar Augusto Severo, localizado na cidade de Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, como pano de fundo para esta discussão. A proposta arquitetônica contempla a instalação do Centro de Extensão, Cidadania e Cultura da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte na referida edificação e, partiu de uma demanda real da instituição que na data da pesquisa desenvolvia o mesmo projeto em seu âmbito técnico-administrativo. No desenvolvimento do trabalho é proposto a aplicação da legislação local de proteção e combate contra incêndio e também a análise de risco de incêndio proposta pela metodologia do Programa Monumenta, a qual é adotada pelo Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional (IPHAN) através dos seus Cadernos Técnicos. As duas questões apresentadas se diferem por se tratar a primeira de um modelo tradicional e prescritivo (aplicação estrita da lei), e a segunda de um modelo não prescritivo que procura critérios de desempenho da edificação para elencar as medidas de proteção a serem adotadas, portanto, o trabalho procura abranger na situação de projeto proposta tanto as questões legais, como também considerando o real risco que a edificação apresenta (de acordo com a metodologia escolhida). Estes riscos, no caso de prédios históricos, podem ser maiores que os normalmente associado as edificações contemporâneas devido a uma série de fatores, tais como a baixa compartimentação, falta de proteção passiva, uso de materiais com maior poder de combustão e adaptações diversas decorrente dos usos que a edificação apresentou ao longo de seu tempo. Após esta análise de risco será desenvolvido tanto o anteprojeto arquitetônico como o projeto básico de combate contra incêndio, em consonância com as interferências e demandas geradas pela questão da segurança contra incêndio e pânico na edificação de interesse patrimonial.

    RESUMO: Ao longo dos últimos anos, devido ao processo de expansão de suas atividades, o Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Rio Grande do Norte (IFRN), apresentou a necessidade da contratação de servidores para a Instituição. Esse processo de expansão do IFRN, política do Governo Federal, juntamente com o aumento de recursos humanos, demandou a construção de um local adequado no município de São Gonçalo do Amarante-RN, para o treinamento e qualificação e como forma de capacitação de seus servidores.  Paralelamente a isso, é grande a preocupação demonstrada pelo Governo Federal no sentido de que suas obras sejam sustentáveis. Este trabalho trata dessa questão, ao desenvolver a concepção arquitetônica de um prédio público com ênfase na redução do consumo energético, através do estudo dos fatores de desempenho energético tais quais definidos por Carneiro (1988) e adaptados por esta autora. Sabe-se que as edificações residenciais, comerciais e públicas representam hoje cerca de 45% do consumo energético no Brasil. Diante disso, há que se considerar a redução desse consumo na edificação, e o papel dos profissionais, especialmente arquitetos, nessa questão. A participação mais efetiva nesse sentido no campo da arquitetura acontece na fase de projetação. Contudo, a solução arquitetônica aqui proposta vai além dos fatores de desempenho citados, uma vez que envolve outras questões, como a definição do conceito, do partido arquitetônico e a solução espacial propriamente dita. Nesse sentido, o projeto do Centro de Treinamento dos Servidores do IFRN (CTSIFRN), se torna particularmente adequado como objeto de estudo no Mestrado Profissional do PPGAU/UFRN, que se propõe a produzir pesquisas direcionadas à arquitetura, ao projeto e ao meio ambiente.

  • Resumo: Este trabalho relata o processo projetual, de concepção até o projeto final, de um pequeno condomínio residencial do tipo lazer na região de Pium, Nísia Floresta/RN, com ênfase no baixo impacto ambiental, no conforto térmico e na qualidade espacial das habitações. O processo consistiu de revisão de literatura e de normas pertinentes, estudos de referências projetuais e programação arquitetônica. O desenvolvimento do projeto se deteve inicialmente na viabilização do empreendimento, com a definição do número de lotes, suas disposições no terreno, tamanho das habitações e localização das áreas comuns do empreendimento. Foram propostos dois tipos de casas (quatro unidades térreas e cinco duplex) para nove lotes, que atendem as premissas da programação arquitetônica. A concepção dos projetos arquitetônicos começou com o zoneamento dos ambientes em relação aos lotes, que resultou na pré-seleção de três alternativas, que foram avaliadas quanto à qualidade espacial e desempenho ambiental. O desenvolvimento dos esboços se deteve na envoltória condizente com as diretrizes bioclimáticas e na linguagem da proposta compatível com o sistema construtivo exequível de menor impacto ambiental, sendo eleita a madeira do tipo eucalipto. Na fase de anteprojeto, foi adotado o Regulamento Técnico da Qualidade para o nível de Eficiência Energética Edificações Residenciais (RTQ-R) para a avaliação das envoltórias, que resultou no atendimento aos critérios de desempenho térmico e nível de eficiência “B” para o primeiro ambiente analisado. Após pequenos ajustes, principalmente de esquadrias, o nível de eficiência subiu para “A”, demonstrando que as primeiras decisões projetuais contribuíram para a eficiência energética da envoltória das habitações. A proposta projetual final do condomínio contempla, além do projeto dos dois tipos de casas, o projeto dos equipamentos da área comum do condomínio (portaria, salão multiuso e setor de apoio e de serviços) e o memorial descritivo e de detalhes construtivos das habitações.

  • Human activity on Earth has depleted natural resources and caused imbalances that are leading the planet to exhaustion. The building construction has to participate in these proceedings since the withdrawal of the nature feedstock to the impact of construction processes and operation of buildings.

    It is important that the architecture also gives her contribution to generating friendly alternatives to the planet that causes less impact on their installation and operation. The building must be well established, use materials that allow reuse, refitting or recycling, and finally, has an economic operation grating to natural resources.

    Thus, we developed a proposal for institutional use building to be built in the Central Campus UFRN, inserted within the limits of Biosciences Center, called Laboratories of Postgraduate CB, to house facilities  on research, teaching and information storage.

     

    The objective is the development of an architectural design project using the rationalization of construction, modular coordination and prefabricated elements. The result should propose a suitable solution that promotes less impact in the installation of work construction field, quickly and cleanly work and, as adapted to climate, offer comfort to its users, allowing the reduction of energy resources in its operation.

    No processo de projeto de uma edificação devem-se considerar as variações climáticas da região, os condicionantes externos e a utilização dos recursos disponíveis na natureza, como o sol, a vegetação, a chuva e os ventos, para prover um ambiente construído com conforto ambiental e com gasto energético reduzido. Porém, a crescente urbanização, muitas vezes com uma ocupação de solo desordenada, vem desconsiderando esses conhecimentos e desrespeitando as características locais, reduzindo drasticamente as áreas verdes. Esta ocupação desordenada, associada à redução de espaços verdes, vem modificando os aspectos do clima e, consequentemente, prejudicando o conforto térmico dos usuários. Perante esse panorama nasceu o questionamento: Quais estratégias projetuais podem trazer melhores condições térmicas a uma edificação educacional situada em região de clima quente e úmido? Assim, diante de dois importantes assuntos, educação e conforto ambiental, a pesquisa justifica-se pelo fato de existir uma grande demanda nacional por ampliações e reformas nas suas redes públicas de ensino, mas que na maioria não oferece aos alunos espaços com qualidade para o bom desenvolvimento da aprendizagem.  O presente trabalho tem como objetivo a elaboração de um projeto para instituição de Ensino Fundamental com a aplicação dos conceitos da bioclimatologia, destacando o uso da vegetação como elemento regulador do clima. Inicialmente realizou-se uma pesquisa bibliográfica, analisou-se soluções arquitetônicas e definiu-se o local. Na fase seguinte, denominada de compreensão, foram levantadas as leis, normas e os condicionantes ambientais. Posteriormente, foi definido o programa de necessidades e o desenvolvimento do projeto arquitetônico. A conclusão desse trabalho apresenta a definição de critérios e soluções para o emprego da vegetação, para projetos de arquitetura bioclimática em climas quente e úmido e contribui com um catálogo de espécies vegetais para as escolas da região metropolitana do Natal, RN.

    Com o passar dos anos, a política do governo federal é utilizar projetos padrões para edifícios escolares, na tentativa de agilizar as obras e reduzir déficit de vagas para o ensino. No município de Natal as escolas infantis destinadas a crianças de 0 a 6 anos, são denominadas Centro Municipal de Ensino Infantil (CMEI). As novas edificações são implantadas através de financiamento junto ao Governo Federal pelo Programa PROINFÂNCIA. Este disponibiliza três tipos de projeto: O “tipo A” deve ser fornecido pelo município interessado e aprovado pelo MEC. O “tipo B” é projeto padrão com capacidade para 120 alunos em tempo integral ou 240 em dois turnos e terreno com dimensões de 40 x 70m e “tipo C” também projeto padrão para 60 alunos em tempo integral ou 120 em dois turnos e terreno com dimensões de 35 x 45m. Com a escassez de terreno com dimensões maiores, algumas vezes é implantado o “tipo C” quando a necessidade é pelo “tipo B” devido à oferta de vagas. Neste sentido, este estudo tem a intenção de apresentar o anteprojeto de escola de educação infantil modulada e flexível com ênfase no conforto dos usuários. Portanto foram realizados estudos de conceitos, arquitetura escolar, tecnologias de construção, estudos de referências e visitas ao CMEI Fernanda Jales (PROINFÂNCIA “tipo B”). No entanto a proposta sintetiza o anteprojeto por módulos podendo ser implantado na sua totalidade ou por partes de acordo com a necessidade e características do lote.

    Nos últimos anos, a Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) vem passando por um intenso processo de expansão, comum as Instituições de Ensino Superior (IES) a partir do Programa de Reestruturação e Expansão das Universidades Federais (REUNI). Os incentivos a UFRN se traduzem na ampliação das atividades de ensino, pesquisa e extensão, contratação de recursos humanos e adequação/ampliação dos espaços físicos. O foco da UFRN na área tecnológica no projeto REUNI, vem refletindo na expressiva ampliação da estrutura física da área do Centro de Tecnologia, onde o Setor de Aulas IV segue sendo o principal conjunto de salas que atende aos cursos da área tecnológica, na qual se evidencia a carência de salas de aula. Nesse sentido, o trabalho aqui apresentado, propõe um anteprojeto arquitetônico para ampliação do espaço físico desse setor, tendo como principais parâmetros: (i) a flexibilidade espacial que atenda aos variados números de alunos por turma; (ii) o conforto ambiental, utilizando os parâmetros e diretrizes construtivas para a Zona Bioclimática 8; (iii) as prescrições constantes nas normas da ABNT: NBR 9050:2004, NBR 15220-3:2003 e NBR 9077:2001. A proposta arquitetônica utilizou o gabarito máximo permitido pelo Plano Diretor do Campus Central da UFRN, quatro pavimentos, considerando a edificação existente (área igual a 7.413,95 m²) como pavimento térreo e a ampliação proposta distribuída em três pavimentos, com área em torno de 2.535,00 m² cada, perfazendo um total de 7.602,65 m² de área total construída.

    Com o tema “a certificação ambiental de edificações como instrumento norteador para a elaboração de projeto arquitetônico”, o objetivo geral do presente trabalho foi projetar um edifício educacional ambientalmente sustentável baseado em diretrizes extraídas a partir da análise das certificações ambientais de edificações. A certificação LEED for Schools foi tomada como base para a pesquisa e a análise dos seus critérios de avaliação identificou a atuação do arquiteto em busca da sustentabilidade na edificação e permitiu destacar as premissas que possuem influência direta na concepção do projeto arquitetônico, seja na montagem do programa arquitetônico, na especificação de materiais, na orientação da edificação, etc. A partir daí foram identificadas as diretrizes de sustentabilidade capazes de influenciar e apoiar a concepção arquitetônica, que foram organizadas em oito grupos, de acordo com o momento da projetação ao qual se relaciona (programa de necessidades, implantação, estudo volumétrico e relações espaciais, relação interior x exterior, especificação de materiais, especificação de equipamentos, soluções verdes e paisagismo). Estabelecidas as diretrizes, foi dado início ao processo projetual, considerando os condicionantes ambientais, legais e funcionais, os conceitos definidos para o projeto e as diretrizes projetuais sustentáveis, procurando perceber a influência destas ao longo de todo o processo. O que se pode concluir é que as diretrizes sustentáveis se distribuem por toda a concepção arquitetônica, não ficando concentradas em um único momento do processo. É importante salientar que o arquiteto deve saber que existe essa influência da sustentabilidade no projeto arquitetônico, para avaliar como seu projeto pode absorver as diretrizes, considerando, sobretudo o lugar no qual a edificação vai se inserir. Na análise realizada, percebeu-se que as diretrizes sustentáveis não devem se sobrepor à contextualização da edificação ao seu lugar, mas sim se incorporar ao processo projetual, que se torna cada vez mais importante na busca pela sustentabilidade.

    Hospital Dia é definido pela Portaria nº 44 (SÃO PAULO. Secretaria Estadual de Saúde, 2001), como a assistência intermediária entre a internação e o atendimento ambulatorial, para realização de procedimentos clínicos, cirúrgicos, diagnósticos e terapêuticos, que requeiram a permanência do paciente na Unidade por um período máximo de 12 horas Na área de assistência à saúde, a questão da “desospitalização” está em pauta, tendo em vista o alto custo da internação prolongada, além dos riscos a que os pacientes estão expostos no ambiente hospitalar. O presente trabalho objetiva levantar o programa de necessidades de um Hospital Dia Cirúrgico e aplicá-lo no projeto de reforma/reuso de uma edificação existente, onde funcionou uma clínica de cirurgia plástica na cidade de Natal/RN e que se encontra desativada. O reuso de edificações é cada vez mais comum dentro do conceito da sustentabilidade, sobretudo nas grandes cidades onde praticamente não há mais estoques de áreas livres para novas construções, a não ser pela demolição do patrimônio edificado pré-existente ou pela sua reciclagem, requalificação, reconversão ou retrofit. Os procedimentos metodológicos adotados foram: pesquisa bibliográfica; estudos de referência diretos e indiretos; levantamento das condicionantes legais, através da análise da legislação vigente para a área e das normas para o tipo de projeto a ser desenvolvido; definição do programa de necessidades de um hospital dia cirúrgico; condicionantes climáticas da cidade objeto; reconhecimento da área do entorno da edificação objeto de intervenção; levantamento da edificação existente: digitalização das plantas fornecidas pelo arquiteto responsável pelo projeto original; conversa com o proprietário e visita técnica a edificação; elaboração da proposta de reforma/reuso, bem como escolha de materiais de acabamento pertinentes ao projeto. Por fim são apresentados os benefícios e dificuldades encontradas para se desenvolver uma proposta de reuso de uma edificação de uso hospitalar.

  • Este trabalho aborda a temática do retrotif aplicado em  edificações pertencentes ao quadro da produção arquitetônica modernista com interesse histórico localizadas na área urbana da cidade de Natal. O Objetivo geral é identificar e compatibilizar procedimentos de retrofit e de preservação de patrimônio arquitetônico utilizando elementos de analise da expressão construtiva e parâmetros da Relação Custo Beneficio (RCB), estabelecidas pela Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica – ANEEL. A hipótese defendida é a de que através  do estimulo ao exercício projetual de analise, em intervenções de retrofit, é possível se obter projetos com melhores resultados de RCB  que contemplem os aspectos de preservação de patrimônio arquitetônico. Para tanto foram desenvolvidos fluxos de analise do processo e propostas soluções de intervenção de elementos e sistemas que procuram melhorar o desempenho energético da edificação, recuperando ou preservando  os elementos arquitetônicos. As propostas de intervenções passam por  simulações computacionais de desempenho através de sistemas como o DesignBuilder e Sun Tool. Os resultados energéticos foram convertidos no parâmetro de analise do RCB e comparados com as expressão construtivas do projeto nas fases  pré e pois intervenção. A partir dos resultados,  foi montado um gráfico que tem como resultado um comparativo entre o RCB e a expressão construtiva das intervenções simuladas.

    Natal, como outras cidades metropolitanas brasileiras, sofreu nas últimas décadas uma forte transformação impulsionada pelo mercado imobiliário e pela indústria da construção civil. A produção de apartamentos em condomínios fechados vem crescendo e tornando cada vez mais comum, no cenário urbano, a presença de torres residenciais (com extensos muros e grades, fachadas cegas e guaritas) que favorecem o “desurbanismo”. Por outro lado, este tipo de empreendimento, o edifício multifamiliar, apresenta plantas baixas padronizadas as quais frequentemente são incoerentes com a diversidade de perfis dos usuários. A consequência disso são reformas e adequações nos apartamentos após a entrega da obra. Diante deste contexto, elaborei uma proposta arquitetônica, que é apresentada nesta dissertação, como alternativa a essa modalidade de produção que está se tornando dominante no Brasil e em outros países.  Dois conceitos nortearam esta proposta: a) o conceito de urbanidade cujo objetivo no projeto arquitetônico é favorecer a percepção do outro (por copresença e/ou cociência) através da permeabilidade, acessos e passagens entre o edifício e o entorno. A maneira como os cheios (barreiras) se estruturam com os vazios foi trabalhada de modo que definissem propriedades espaciais cuja intenção é facilitar o encontro e a diversidade entre moradores e entre estes e os de fora, no entanto sem desconsiderar o problema da violência urbana e, consequentemente a importância da promoção de segurança para os usuários. b) o conceito de flexibilidade a fim de possibilitar ao consumidor final o desmembramento da unidade habitacional em duas e, em especial, a participação e ou escolha na concepção do arranjo interno e da definição dos acabamentos do seu apartamento. Tudo isto durante a construção do empreendimento e ao longo da sua vida útil, favorecendo assim o potencial de diversidade (grupos sociais), adaptabilidade a fases distintas da vida e durabilidade do edifício.

    Resumo:

     Com o objetivo principal de elaborar um projeto arquitetônico de um edifício corporativo com ênfase na sustentabilidade ambiental consubstanciada na aplicação de critérios decorrentes de um método de avaliação de desempenho, foram definidos como princípios norteadores da concepção arquitetônica a sustentabilidade, a flexibilidade e a conectividade. A metodologia do projeto consistiu na identificação de ações de sustentabilidade ambiental reunidas numa agenda específica para a edificação corporativa proposta a serem seguidas durante as etapas do processo de concepção da mesma. Para definir as ações de sustentabilidade foram usados como referências os critérios de avaliação do Manual Selo Casa Azul. O universo de estudo foi o bairro de Tirol na cidade de Natal/RN, onde se situa o local escolhido para a implantação do projeto. Como a intenção não foi de alcançar um alto nível de detalhamento técnico, mas representar o projeto de modo a ser compreendido, detalhando os pontos necessários ao entendimento principalmente das soluções sustentáveis empregadas, este exercício projetual foi desenvolvido no nível de anteprojeto de arquitetura. Ao final do processo pode-se concluir que não existe um caminho definido ou uma fórmula para projetar um edifício sustentável e que cabe a figura do arquiteto definir as ações de sustentabilidade relacionadas ao tipo e características da edificação projetada e transformar essas ações em soluções projetuais distribuídas durante todo o processo de concepção arquitetônica.

    Este trabalho tem por objetivo apresentar uma proposta de arquitetura em nível de estudo preliminar para a requalificação e ampliação do edifício sede da Fundação Cultural Capitania das Artes (FUNCARTE), localizado no Centro Histórico de Natal - RN. A FUNCARTE, instituição responsável pela politica cultural do município de Natal, almeja criar anexo ao seu atual edifício uma nova construção. Juntos, anexo e edificação preexistente, irão abrigar o Centro Cultural Capitania das Artes (CCCA). A partir do programa solicitado por esta instituição, foi então desenvolvido o estudo preliminar do CCCA. Por tratar-se de uma intervenção arquitetônica de adição de nova edificação a um edifício preexistente tombado em nível estatual e situado em área tombada como patrimônio cultural nacional, queremos aproveitar esta ocasião para produzir uma reflexão projetual acerca das praticas de inserção de arquitetura contemporânea em área de valor patrimonial, cujo tema ainda hoje provoca calorosos debates no campo da preservação. Afinal, os princípios metodológicos e teóricos que dão suporte as intervenções de restauro, devem ser reinterpretados para a preservação dos bens culturais, independente da época em que estes foram construídos. Este percurso projetual, será feito com uma abordagem teórica conceitual que toma como referencia noções da preservação ligadas a vertente italiana do restauro “crítico conservativo e criativo” e também das posturas classificadas como de “continuidade e justaposição contextual”, de modo a embasar as decisões arquitetônicas a serem adotadas no desenvolvimento deste estudo preliminar, com respeito aos aspectos materiais, documentais e formais do edifício preexistente e contexto histórico.

    Resumo:

    Padronização e sustentabilidade: duas palavras aparentemente antagônicas
    aqui encontram o desafio de se aliarem em uma proposta arquitetônica
    flexível. Essa foi a idéia que motivou a proposição dessa dissertação,
    cujo surgimento está ligado à necessidade de se pensar em espaços
    padronizados que atendam a critérios funcionais e de sustentabilidade
    ambiental, em resposta a uma demanda real existente. A dissertação
    consiste na proposta arquitetônica para um padrão flexível de Unidade
    Básica de Saúde para a zona bioclimática 7 do RN (UBS RN-7), com ênfase na
    sustentabilidade ambiental. Sua elaboração teve como base pesquisas
    bibliográficas,
    estudos conceituais e de referências, elaboração do programa arquitetônico e
    desenvolvimento do anteprojeto para a UBS Porte I e a UBS Porte II. Ao
    final, é proposta uma ficha de implantação para o projeto padrão da UBS,
    onde são adotadas estratégias de isolamento térmico, sombreamento
     e inércia térmica que são combinadas a três possíveis tipos de lote,
    resultando em 24 possibilidades de implantações.

    O crescimento urbano sem a infraestrutura prévia tem provocado diversos
    impactos ambientais, como o comprometimento da qualidade das reservas
    hídricas nas cidades. Juntamente com a escassez natural em certas regiões,
    este é um dos fatores que limitam a disponibilidade de água para consumo.
    Em função disso, a conservação da água potável vem se tornando uma das
    principais preocupações nos projetos arquitetônicos sustentáveis. Dentro
    deste contexto, este trabalho se propõe a desenvolver um projeto de
    arquitetura para um edifício de ensino superior com foco na racionalização
    do consumo de água. O projeto proposto situa-se no campus da UFRN no
    município de Currais Novos, área de clima quente
    e seco e de baixa pluviometria. A proposta busca integrar medidas de
    redução do consumo à arquitetura, com a finalidade de explorar quais as
    vantagens trazidas e a economia alcançada. Após a quantificação de
    benefícios das medidas adotadas, constatou-se que é possível reduzir
    significantemente o consumo de água potável nos edifícios educacionais em
    universidades utilizando-se três princípios redução do consumo de água no
    ponto de utilização, substituição da fonte de água e reciclagem interna.
    Os cálculos e simulações realizadas indicaram que a edificação proposta
    pode ter um consumo até 56% menor do que se fosse provida por instalações
    hidrossanitárias convencionais. A racionalização do consumo de
    água traz benefícios diretos e indiretos, com desdobramentos no campo
    ambiental, social e econômico.

    Esta dissertação relata o percurso teórico, metodológico e programático para
    a proposta de uma edificação residencial multifamiliar localizada na área de
    expansão urbana de Parnamirim/RN, inserida no Programa Minha Casa Minha
    Vida e com nível de eficiência energética “A”, conforme o Regulamento
    Técnico de Qualidade para edificações residenciais (RTQ-R) do INMETRO.O
    desenvolvimento do projeto consiste inicialmente de procedimentos como o
    estudo de referenciais teóricos, a programação arquitetônica e os estudos
    de precedentes arquitetônicos. Com a delimitação de um campo de soluções,
    situado entre as referências e o contexto, são estudadas proposições para
    adoção e evolução do partido e, posterior, detalhamento da proposta
    arquitetônica. A programação arquitetônica foi construída com base no
    método do ProblemSeeking (Peña e Parshall, 2001) e a pesquisa destacou
    aspectos de redução do impacto ambiental e do Programa Minha Casa Minha
    Vida, dentre outros. O processo projetual se caracterizou pela
    incorporação dos aspectos revisados e programados, buscando
    compatibilizá-los e ter uma edificação viável economicamente, com
    qualidade sócio-espacial e eficiente energeticamente. Os resultados
    alcançados demonstram que é possível obter uma edificação que atende as
    restrições do programa habitacional e
    que proporciona eficiência energética – nível A – e muitas outras qualidades
    ambientais e construtivas, sobretudo por meio do projeto arquitetônico.

  • O emprego da flexibilidade no desenho das fachadas, tornando-as adaptáveis
    a situações climáticas adversas, conduz a minimização do desconforto
    ambiental e a eficiência energética. Desse modo, esta pesquisa evidencia o
    potencial de fachadas flexíveis como recurso para diminuir a rigidez e a
    repetição da forma, comumente empregada em condomínios de casas
    padronizadas, contribuindo para o aprofundamento no estudo de estratégias
    de projeto que auxiliam na adaptação e integração do edifício com o clima
    e contexto locais. Para tanto, duas opções de fachadas foram projetadas
    utilizando como referência a biônica e a cinética e suas aplicações em
    construções arquitetônicas. Como resultados foram obtidos duas estruturas
    leves e dinâmicas que atendem aos condicionantes de conforto por meio de
    combinações de movimentos que controlam a radiação solar e o arrefecimento
    no ambiente. A eficácia e funcionalidade técnica das fachadas foram
    testadas por meio de softwares de análises de conforto e computação
    gráfica e simulações com maquete física. Assim, a pesquisa contribui para
    o aperfeiçoamento de soluções projetuais objetivando o uso de estratégias
    de energia passiva na arquitetura com o intuito de oferecer melhor
    qualidade para o usuário e para a sustentabilidade do planeta.

    Este trabalho tem como produto o projeto arquitetônico do Complexo
    Ambulatorial do Hospital Universitário João de Barros Barreto da
    Universidade Federal do Pará em Belém – Pará. Trata-se de um
    Estabelecimento Assistencial de Saúde (EAS). O trabalho transitou pela
    aplicação de conceitos arquitetônicos, pelos estudos de referências
    (teórico e empírico), pela programação, pelo estudo do terreno e
    condicionantes, pela concepção preliminar, finalizando com o projeto
    básico de arquitetura. Os estudos de referência empíricos tiveram com base
    o edifício principal do Hospital Barros, o Hospital Sarah Kubitschek de
    Fortaleza (autor João Filgueiras de Lima – Lelé) e o Hospital e
    Maternidade São Luiz de São Paulo (autor Siegbert Zanettini). Parte da
    programação arquitetônica teve como base o Método “Problem Seeking de Pena
    e Parshal. No processo de elaboração do projeto arquitetônico, buscou-se a
    incorporação de critérios de sustentabilidade, eficiência energética e
    humanização. Para a questão da sustentabilidade, teve destaque o estudo da
    utilização de águas pluviais para uso não potável. Conclui-se, neste
    trabalho, que EAS, como qualquer outro edifício, devem ser projetados
    dentro dos critérios mencionados - sustentabilidade, eficiência energética
    e humanização.

  • Buscar uma forma de construir que atenda aos anseios e desenvolvimento
    da humanidade sem, contudo, representar degradação do meio ambiente, tem
    se tornado o grande desafio da arquitetura contemporânea. A construção e
    o uso dos edifícios estão entre os maiores consumidores dos recursos
    naturais do planeta, consumindo parte significativa do fornecimento
    mundial de água pura, de sua colheita de madeira e de seus combustíveis
    fósseis. Em contrapartida, a busca da sustentabilidade nas edificações,
    além da redução do impacto ao meio ambiente, contribui para a promoção
    do bem estar social, para o aumento das condições de saúde e da
    produtividade dos ocupantes. Neste trabalho o tema sustentabilidade na
    construção civil é abordado por meio da elaboração de um projeto
    arquitetônico voltado a área da saúde, considerando que a incorporação
    dos princípios que proporcionem uma construção sustentável como a
    escolha criteriosa das soluções projetuais no tocante a materiais, a
    correta implantação no terreno, e a especificação de materiais, quer
    sejam estruturais ou de acabamento, contribuem para um melhor desempenho
    econômico e térmico da edificação, além de proporcionar conforto
    funcional e psicológico aos seus usuários. Neste contexto, a dissertação
    apresenta o desenvolvimento de uma proposta arquitetônica para o
    edifício do Serviço de Verificação de Óbitos - SVO, começando pela
    escolha do tema, passando pelos conceitos adotados no projeto, os
    estudos referenciais e programáticos (com base nas legislações
    pertinentes) e as diversas soluções implantadas, culminando com o
    projeto básico de arquitetura para a implantação da nova sede do SVO da
    cidade do Natal, e que virá a atender à demanda de todo o RN.

    Esta
    pesquisa abrange a temática da habitação de interesse social e sua relação
    com
    o conforto térmico, de forma aplicada a uma intervenção urbanística e
    arquitetônica em terreno situado na região central da zona urbana de
    Macaíba/RN. Refletir sobre o papel do projeto e da utilização de materiais
    construtivos alternativos na busca por melhores resultados de desempenho é um
    dos seus principais objetivos. A hipótese é que, através da mudança de
    parâmetros de projeto e de escolha de materiais, é possível obter melhores
    resultados de desempenho térmico. Para tanto, foram realizadas simulações
    computacionais de desempenho térmico e de ventilação natural através de
    dinâmica dos fluidos computacional ou CFD (Computacional
    Fluid Dynamics). A apresentação dos dados de simulação térmica seguiu a
    metodologia proposta na dissertação de Negreiros (2010), que visa encontrar o
    percentual da quantidade de horas de conforto obtidas em todo o ano, enquanto
    que a análise dos dados de ventilação natural foi feita a partir das imagens
    geradas pelas imagens extraídas do CFD. A partir do modelo de edificação
    projetado, foi montado um quadro analítico que tem como resultado um
    comparativo entre três diferentes propostas de habitações modelo de conjuntos
    habitacionais, no qual é avaliada a questão do desempenho térmico das
    edificações, e também são abordadas as variáveis espaciais de projeto,
    materiais construtivos e custos. Conclui-se que o trabalho final confirmou
    as hipóteses
    gerais estabelecidas no início da pesquisa, tendo sido possível
    quantificar os
    resultados e identificar que a importância do projeto e dos materiais
    construtivos são equivalentes, e que, se somados, levam a ganhos de
    desempenho
    térmico em potencial.

    O trabalho versa sobre o estudo da aplicação de métodos de reforço e reabilitação estrutural mediante a utilização de técnicas modernas para intervenções em obras do patrimônio histórico edificado, bem como a verificação através de estudos de referência, do comportamento de obras já
    submetidas a diferentes técnicas de intervenções estruturais, com a finalidade de permitir uma análise comparativa entre as vantagens/desvantagens de técnicas adotadas caso a caso, no tocante às interferências relacionadas com a autenticidade e integridade das edificações integrantes do patrimônio
    construído, de modo a obter subsídios para o embasamento e fundamentação teórica para a escolha da
    melhor solução a ser adotada no estudo de caso, que consiste em uma intervenção restaurativa de reabilitação estrutural no prédio histórico do antigo Grupo Escolar “Augusto Severo”.

  • Atualmente a adoção de conceitos e princípios sustentáveis na construção civil tem sido crescentimente debatida, aperfeiçoada e incorporada aos edifícios, uma vez que o setor interfere diretamente no espaço urbano e no meio ambiente, representando impacto ambiental. Para tornar um edifício sustentável (Green Building) é imprescindível incorporar prática construtiva  menos nocíva, desde a fase projetual até o funcionamento do empreendimento, ou seja, considerar um processo integrado de concepção, implantação, construção e operação. A participação mais efetiva dos princípios de sustentabilidade no campo da arquitetura acontece na fase de projetação, através de soluções com mínimo impacto ambiental. Dentre a multiplicidade de aspectos que envolvem a sustentabilidade da proposta projetual de edificações, foram englobados nesse trabalho os elementos que estão diretamente ligados à arquitetura bioclimática, mais especificamente às variáveis climáticas, ventilação, iluminação e insolação, que incidem diretamente na concepção do projeto. É importante destacar que o papel da arquitetura vai muito além da mera atividade de edificar o espaço; ela é consequência de elementos políticos, econômicos, sociais e culturais, tendo os usuários como instrumento chave para sua materialização. Dessa forma, essa dissertação profissional consiste na elaboração de um anteprojeto arquitetônico tipo para uma escola de educação profissional e tecnológica para o Estado do Rio Grande do Norte, fundamentada na análise da experiência anterior e nos princípios bioclimáticos que envolvem as edificações nos climas quente-seco e quente-úmido, quanto ao uso estratégico de soluções que visem a otimização da iluminação e ventilação natural.

  • RESUMO

    Este trabalho aborda as discussões acerca das intervenções contemporâneas em espaços públicos situados em áreas de valor patrimonial, sendo que o produto desta dissertação a elaboração de um Projeto de Intervenção para a Praça Marechal Deodoro, localizada no bairro Centro, em Teresina (PI), objetivo deste trabalho. O ponto de partida para o entendimento da temática de estudo está na investigação da acessibilidade e vitalidade de um espaço público, por meio da relação entre forma e usos, de modo que as propriedades espaciais de acessibilidade e visibilidade, bem como a distribuição de uso do solo, foram considerados fatores associados a padrões distintos de vitalidade e comparados a padrões de uso observados in loco e a depoimentos de usuários obtidos através dos resultados dos questionários aplicados e, ao final, foi elaborado um conjunto de diretrizes projetuais para intervenção no espaço público. Em atenção ao questionamento sobre construir no construído, especificamente em centros históricos, foram consideradas essas diretrizes para definir as estratégias de intervenção na praça objeto deste estudo, mediante o desenvolvimento de simulações utilizando o software Depth Map, para, após avaliações dos resultados de redesenho, escolher a melhor opção de proposta de projeto, face aos requisitos necessários ao desempenho, considerando as propriedades espaciais de integração e visibilidade que atendam a esses requisitos. Portanto, o Projeto de Intervenção realizado para a Praça Marechal Deodoro foi elaborado com base na estruturação espacial, vegetação, sistema viário, pavimentos, mobiliário urbano e iluminação.
