    Logic is traditionally understood as an aprioristic form of knowledge. Logical truths are taken to be analytic, i.e. they are discovered and legitimated through an armchair methodology. From this viewpoint, logic is seen as an exception among other sciences: logical truths are unrevisable and not dependent upon empirical confirmation. Yet many scientific discoveries from the 20th century provided the need for revising logic, especially classical logic. This shift initiated the proliferation of alternative logics designed to account for different domains of scientific investigation. Thus, logics started to be seen as akin to scientific theories, a view currently recognized as the anti-exceptionalist conception of logic. According to anti-exceptionalism about logic, logic and science share a common methodology, they both produce and select their theories by abductive methods. However, to what extent logic might be understood as an abductive and non-aprioristic field of investigation is still a matter of debate. As a result, two important problems became a central concern for the contemporary philosophy of logic: 1) to understand the role of abductive methods for selection of logical theories on the basis of epistemic virtues; 2) to develop formal tools capable to account for and describe the dynamics of revision of a logical theory. The purpose of the present study is to investigate aspects of these two problems, as well as to elucidate their interconnections. In the first part many topics related to the problem of logical revision from the anti-exceptionalist perspective are discussed. The second part is an investigation of non-monotonicity as a way to model the process of logical revision. One special class of non-monotonic logics will be investigated, the so-called adaptive logics. The anti-exceptionalist picture advocated by some adaptive logicians will be discussed and compared to other forms of anti-exceptionalism.
