AREA: Turismo
SUMMARY:

The Baixo Rio Branco, located between the municipalities of Caracaraí and Rorainópolis, in the central-south region of the state of Roraima, has stood out for the offer of the Sport Fishing Tourism segment, due to the diversity contained in its ecosystems, which favors the occurrence of different species of fish. The use of water and fishing resources by tourism affects, however, the degree of conservation of natural environments and the way of life of riverside communities that live in the region, resulting in social conflicts that raise the need to reflect on the development of tourism in more responsible bases, in order to find ways to mitigate possible harmful actions of the tourist phenomenon on the environment in which it is inserted, as well as the interference of these conflicts on tourist activity. To address the aspects that can and should permeate the Sport Fishing Tourism activity in this Amazonian context, the use of the sustainability paradigm is therefore chosen in this theoretical-propositive study as a viable path for responsible regional development, based on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, of the United Nations - UN, through the Mandala ODS instrument, of the Confederação Nacional de Municípios - CNM, which has a methodology applicable at the local level and covers socioeconomic and environmental data of the municipalities covered by the survey. Thus, the exploratory-descriptive research in progress, which consists of a case study, has as main objective to analyze what are the challenges for Sport Fishing Tourism in Baixo Rio Branco-RR to contribute to the achievement of the social SDGs of the 2030 Agenda, from the Mandala ODS, having as methodological procedures applied research, with a qualitative approach, with the aid of bibliographic, documentary and electronic research, in addition to counting on the contribution of social actors directly involved in the processes of planning, management and/or use of local natural resources used by the tourist segment, through the application of questionnaires, whose data will be examined in the light of phenomenology. As a theoretical-empirical expectation of the study, it is intended to analyze the obstacles that have prevented Sport Fishing Tourism in Baixo Rio Branco-RR from following the paths of social sustainability, from the perspective of the subjects covered by the research and the specific scientific literature, in order to contribute to its maintenance in the medium and long term.
