SUMMARY:

Quality of working life (QoWL) involves a comprehensive understanding and commitment to the conditions of the professional environment, in order to ensure the well-being, health, physical, mental and social safety of workers, as well as the empowerment for the positive performance of tasks and the good use of personal energy. The basis of the proposed theme consists of the theoretical-practical discussion promoted from the BPSO-96 model, by Limongi-França (1996), supported by Walton's criteria (1973), which aim at the humanization of relations inside and outside the workplace. To achieve productivity in organizations, aligned to the employees' well-being, it is essential that the strategic management of people implements flexible models to the heterogeneity of the relationships and the dynamics of the hotel environment. Considering the current moment experienced by the health crisis COVID-19, it is pertinent to understand how the biosecurity protocols implemented in hotels impacted the perception of QoWL. Thereby, the study aims to analyze the changes related to the quality of working life in lodging industry caused by the pandemic of COVID-19. It is an exploratory research, which had as its starting point a systematic literature review based on the Knowledge Development Process - Constructivist (ProKnow-C) methodology. For the empirical investigation, a qualitative approach will be used, made possible through semi-structured interviews with employees of four hotels located on the Via Costeira in Natal/RN, in addition to documentary research and participant observation. The data will be examined through the content analysis proposed by Bardin (1977), following an interpretative approach. With the execution of this research, it is expected that the biosafety protocols implemented due to COVID-19 will be able to facilitate the operational routine and ensure greater protection against health risks for professionals who are daily exposed to challenging conditions in their work. Moreover, people management will be able to outline more effective guidelines about QoWL, prioritizing human integrity.
