SUMMARY:

In response to browsing public awareness of the importance of organizational contributions to sustainable development, there is an increased incentive for companies to report on their sustainability activities. Parallel to this, there has been the development of Sustainable Human Resources Management, which encompasses a browsing body of professional and academic literature connecting the notions of corporate sustainability to Human Resources Management. The general objective of this work is to analyze the adoption of sustainable human resources management practices in the tourism sector and its impact on employees. For this, specific objectives were outlined, which helped in the general conduct of the work, namely: Propose an integrating concept for Sustainable Human Resources Management; Identify the main sustainable practices in the context of human resource management developed by the largest hotel chains in the world; Describe sustainable human resource management practices developed by reference hotels in Brazil; Investigate the applicability of sustainable human resource management practices in small businesses in a destination focused on sustainable tourism and analyze the impact of sustainable human resource management practices on employees. As a methodological contribution, the research will be developed through a multimethod, with quantitative and qualitative analysis, being divided into three stages: The first stage called global, with analysis of the sustainability reports of the ten largest hotel chains in the world, with a quantitative approach, presented through tabs, graphs and clusters. Second stage called national, investigating through the Booking.com report the five best rated sustainable hotels in Brazil, using a qualitative approach through interviews with managers and the third and last stage called local, qualitative approach, interview in depth and conducting a focus group, with the Chã de Jardim Community – Areia (PB). After collection, the data will be discussed and we seek to contribute to the advancement of literature in the sense that we can apply global practices in our local reality.
