RESUMO:

As the tourism sector incorporates technologies reconfiguring the distribution and use of products and services (Guimarães & Borges, 2008), Information and Communication Technology (ICT) becomes a subject of tourism research in several studies (Buhalis & Law, 2008), in view of such transformations in the sector. For Gretzel et. Al. (2017), when observing studies that discuss the adoption of technology by tourism operators, these are focused on identifying the diversity or factors that differentiate organizations and their patterns from others in relation to the adoption of technology. DiMaggio & Powell (1983), establish a macro institutional vision of structural change, defined as isomorphism in organizations. The objective is to analyze the isomorphism, based on institutional theory, present in Natal / RN hotels in the adoption of information and communication technologies. The present study has a methodological proposal based on the research "Technology Adoption by Tourism Operators in Australia and Brazil: An Institutional Theory Perspective", Gretzel et. Al. (2017), which was responsible for comparing how the Brazilian and Australian tour operators, in a demographic cut comprising the northeastern region of Brazil that has a large coastal extension and Queensland, a state of northeastern Australia with similar formations to the region of Brazil. A qualitative approach will be used to carry out the research. Previously delimited interviews with Natal / RN hotel managers will be conducted in order to identify the practices of technological adoption. Subsequently, for the discourse analysis, pointed out by Bardin (1994) as a technique consisting of three distinct moments are the pre-analysis, the exploration of the material and later the treatment of the results. For the latter, the use of qualitative and mixed analysis software will be used. At the end of the study, it is expected that the process of adopting technology in tourism operators through the Institutional Theory, posed by Gyau and Stringer (2011) as a tool that should receive attention to the understanding of this adoption in tourism and hospitality . Because it is the Institutional Theory used in several areas of consumption and of organizations as an enlightening structure (Vargo & Lusch, 2016), it is expected that the study may contribute to knowledge in the field of tourism.
