SUMMARY:

The daily is a stage of fluid, almost linear events, the new in this day-to-day emerges and provides elements that break this bubble. Travel can be a good example - the traveller takes possession of new experiences, composing a new aura that spices up the return to daily. Tourism then also becomes a stage, but now of potential new experiences, in which the unknown can be made available to tourists. There are different tourist practices around the world that lead to the unknown, exotic, atypical. Here we will deal with a genre that is not very present in Brazil and that operates and revolves around morbidity, funeral and gloomy themes.  Dark tourism enters the scene through attractions rooted in morbidity, seen in battlefields, cemeteries, disaster and genocide sites, macabre festivals, among other examples of possibilities for this tourism. Indeed, the dark following the processes of transformation of consumer behaviours is now offered on digital platforms. The streaming services have inserted in their catalogs cinematographic productions aimed at this niche. Turismo Macabro is a documentary series, aired in 2018 by Netflix, which exposes the experiences of journalist David Farrier around the world. From this filmic work, seeing the practices belonging to the narrative of the series can evoke analyses on the understanding and implications of this segment of tourism. Thus, the main objective of this research focuses on analysing the development of the offer of dark tourism experiences, present in the Netflix series in question, to verify what characterizes this offer and how it presents itself in tourism. The research is also supported by the objectives of debating the representation of the dark in audio-visual production, as well as identifying cases of dark tourism that dialogue with experiences in Brazil. To achieve these objectives, the qualitative descriptive research developed an instrument for data collection and analysis, in which a methodological form systematized the information contained in the research object. In the case of a series, it was necessary to work the data through an analysis protocol that will produce the results of the work. This study concluded that the Turismo Macabro series is a production that carries the range of modalities of dark tourism offers that come up against ethical, political issues and its own limitation, with this, it was verified that the series' intention to explore this type tourism is a way to showcase the unique in dark tourism experiences. It is also considered that destinations such as Brazil, demonstrate how the segment is in development and for this reason it is necessary the academic look that investigates this constitution process.
