RESUMO:

Traditional communities have the local ecosystem as an essential element for their livelihoods and therefore need a balanced and healthy natural environment. However, throughout the development process of the Brazilian coast and tourism and other economic activities expasion, environmental conflicts involving these communities have become increasingly frequent and harmful. Within this context, this project aims to analyze the relationship between these environmental conflicts and the development of community-based tourism in traditional communities. Therefore, it is intended to conduct an empirical research in three communities participating in Cearense Community Tourism Network - Tucum Network, Brazil. Data collection will be through documentary research, observation and  interviews. The collected data will be analyzed according to the content analysis technique. The research is based on the perspective of Critical Green Criminology from the perspective of environmental justice. As perspectives of the research, it is hoped that it can stimulate the discussion about environmental crimes and tourism; produce knowledge about the impacts of environmental crimes on traditional communities that develop community-based tourism initiatives; stimulate reflection on the consequences of environmental damage and the role of the community organization in promoting environmental and social justice; and encourage alternative forms of tourism development that respect ecosystems, culture and the local community.
